Private Art (http://www.private-art.com/) - A collection of World War II letters, to and from the homefront.

FYI, after you get to the main page, it pops open in a new window. If you have pop-up protection, you may have to turn it off.

Cool site.
Several years ago I was digging around in the attic and found a bunch of V-mail from some relatives, including my dad. This house belonged to my mom's parents, so it's got some old things in it. I looked through the crispy letters and they were quite interesting. For those of you who don't know what V-mail was, they were photo copied letters that were reduced to a uniform folding size in 3X5 envelopes. They were also black with white lettering. I guess that had to do with very early photo copying and probably saved a lot of silver-halide for processing.
Anyway, the thoughts of the GIs, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen told a very human tale. Some of the letters were from the Home Front that were brought back, so you got a two-way conversation with some of them. I found my grandfather's WWI discharge paper of 1919, also black with white lettering.
This house has become a military museum over the years and that's just the way I like it. :)
