Pulled this one on the Okinawa;
When the marine battalion was embarked, we had a lot of very young marines wandering around the ship with nothing to do. Four of us from AIMD lined up beside a locked fanroom hatch and waited. In a couple of minutes a pair of marines wandered by and asked us what we were doing.
"Just waiting for the 'store' to open."
Commenting eagerly on their luck at finding a short line for something, they fell into line. They happily roped in the next dozen or so of their comrades into the line. and as soon as the end disapeared through a hatch, we glanced at our watches, and told our victems that we had to go on watch, but the stor would be opened any minute now, and we left.
An hour later we checked on the line. The tail end had emerged on the hanger deck and and ran almost the full length of the hanger deck.
