So what was your favorite P.I. water hole?
Mine was Stone Crow and Florida club.
Rock n Roll In Concert and the Stone Crow. Florida was cool too. What was the name of the club on the right side of the street that had a balcony overlooking the stage?

Hey everyone. Midway crew member 1987-1989 V-4 Div. My favorites water holes were Traxx (I believe that was the name) right outside the main gate, first club to your left. Also, Sgt. Peppers and Rock & Roll. Can't remember the others but I sure I hit them all at one time or another.
hmmmm.. there was more than one bar in the PI? I thought it was all one big huge anything you want bar....LOL. But, seriously.... I would have to say the Teddy Bear bar in the barrio baretto... and probably sgt. peppers in olongapo.

That was either GENESIS or the PLAYBOY. I think it was the Playboy club.
Every trip out the gate involved Tia's tacos down on Gordon street, a few beers on the balcony of the runway, proceeding to the Quarterdeck (I still have a picture of Bodean's drunk ass up on stage dancing at the QD!) where me and Bruns would commence ordering the girls to go get some meat-sticks and just generally took over the place.
Genesis!!! That's the one!!! Thanks Loki for remembering the taco joint's name too. :)
Tia's tacos.... That's it!!!! Loki...you are a mental giant... or just have a good memory... Thanx for remembering . :hehe:

I always liked to sit at the 168, the open air place about 3/4 down Magsaysay on the right. Have some fun with the local kids, peso coins, a lighter, and the jeepneys.
In Concert was always fun.
I also remember a couple of 'massage parlors' on the right side not too far from the gate, but I can't remember any of the names.
The Tom Tom club on Rizal St. It was owned by a retired Navy guy and besides my favorite lady companion (that's putting it nicely) worked there, upstairs that is.

100% Rock or there was always Charlie's Bar and Grill "Fine Mexican Food"
I got one, Shades of Blue, ever heard of it????? Well if you have then you know it was one of the more lesser traveled bars due to the low rent owners, but we'd visit it our chief owned it, not a great investment.
I liked abra cadrakbra(sp) in Barrio.

ah the barrio... and how about spending a restful afternoon in the able hands of the staff at the Samuri ...
I'd go out to the barrio and ride a jeep to subic city and then ride it back and get totally snockered drunk all for 1.5 p's Not bad eh :!!!:

I hung out at the Midnight Rambler when I visited Barrio ( '88 to '90 time frame), basically last bar on the right going toward Subic, of course visited every bar before that one, but they played some good tunes, and was pretty mellow, was a great get away from magsaysay ( sp )

During that time on AFARTS radio the night DJ had this show called the Midnight Rambler, he'd be on til Midnight. during that time I was down in the PI after they lifted the restrictions on travel, Had all the fag outfits down doing sober training mission, yeah right!!!!

It was Vias. Best tacos in the far east. But my favorite watering hole had to be The Teddy Bear in Barrio. Watching the girls do a line dance to "Bar Fine Lover" ROFLMAO....and of course there was Fanny, the only bar girl I ever considered "rescuing". Sigh....those were the days

Apple...it was great, once they figured out that I wasn't going to buy every girl in the bar a drink... :p
After that, only the serious girls would come and talk. :)
The live bands were pretty good, too!

Am I the only one who remembers the ultimate dive, located behind the fire station (and down a block)?
Freaks Stagger In. Now that was entertainment!!
One memorable day I was on the balcony with a few buddies smoking a cigarette when I see this guy on the street below, carrying about 300 ballons, trying to sell them.
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to drop by cig and pop a balloon.
SAFETY TIP: know what the balloons are filled with first.........
So, my cig hits a balloon and WHOOOOSHHHH, they all exploded. Turns out hydrogen is cheaper than helium.
Well, the balcony catches fire, as does our hair and shirts. And absolute chaos as people fled the place.
I am laughing again just thinking about it!
Also, unrelated to bars, my friend and I decided to test Naval Warfare Theory. So we smuggled two bowling balls out of the bowling alley and go out the gate and stop on the shit river bridge (this was before that stupid fence). Remember the girls in the white dresses standing in those little boats in the evening??
Well, I had a 14 pound ball, and Tim had a 6 pound ball. We each waived a 100 peso bill, which brough all the girls and boats right beneath us.
Our findings: Both a 6 and 14 pound ball will remove the bottom of a little banka (sp) boat. Completely remove the bottom!!

Chaff, You would have been great company with us ordies! I remember that bar, I had a friend on the darter out of Sasabo, old diesel sub, we went to boot camp together. That or may I say all of that was damn funny, I bet both of yous got ragged for a bit over the ballons! And the banka theory! even better, let me guess they didn't see the balls prior to abandoning banka? That was really fucked up, but at the time I'm laughing my ass off because I could just see that and that poor girls face as she is going for a swim!!!
My friend Joe and I were down their in July 88, the chucky V pulled into port and the brown fox burned and well we went into this bar on the corner on the left across shit river top floor, for the life of me I can't remember the name of it, but it had a great view of shit river, well as we go into that joint those ho's start going crazy, leaving those guys and all over us, they were pissed. Shit we were dito! What could we do, leave? Not. :drinkin: We stayed and got piss drunk
Great story.

I am sure anyone reading this section remembers Peso shows.
Well, one night (the night before the balloon incident, I think), me and the other guys are trying to talk this particular sweet thang into giving us a Peso show. Okay, so what, right?
Well, while we were negotiating the show, one of my buddies stacked up several Pesos on the table, and then (while no one was looking) took out his lighter and started heating those puppies up.
Finally, we get the show negotiated. She gets up on the table and begins her little show. Then she squats down and next thing I know she is like a Saturn 5 rocket, flying up and off the table at nearly the speed of sound, all the while screaming louder than any Saturn 5 rocket ever sounded. While we are all looking at this in amazement, thinking "that is not the Peso show I had in mind", our other buddy is laughing so hard he starts choking. He then tells what he did. We all start laughing to beat all hell!
I think that girl is still stuck somewhere up in the rafters!!!
CHAFF DOG
Well We had this gig called the bone throwers, it was out in the barrio and you had to wear a loin cloth, we had food and ho give aways and it was a orgy of sorts. But it lasted all weekend long, and it would be something I would think that could happen at the playboy mansion. Well in the 85-87 Cruise book there is a guy Named Horner in the back, he was the guy who got the ball rolling, well it cost 25 bucks food beer ho's the whole lot! That is for 25 bucks! As I remember there was a ho raffle every hour! A lot of Giling Giling going on that weekend!
But back to the peso show, I remember a deal in Thailand, oh right PI Bars....Well they have LBFM's too, so this girl had a whole ball of yarn up there and she could smoke a ciggy as well. I shit you not, I was a little worried of what other things that thing could do  Well we did have this guy put the ole Zippo to a coin, but by the time she was taking change she either had callious'es or it was cold? No joy in the flying LBFM
Funny thing is guys back in the world would never believe us, even with pictures. :smokin:

That bar with the yarn, was it something America? Did the girls have on American flag bikinis????
Not only THE yarn and smoking. I also remember ping pong balls, and the dart shooter. Everyone was diving for cover when she, ahem, started shooting darts from the stage!!
Oh yes, I remember that place!!!!!!

Oh Chaff, as I recall after many Clossters in me, she wasn't wearing anything, and infact was hot! Nice firm stand up :Boobies: as I recall, and that isn't a beer goggle momory either. I was so amazed at that box of hers if she had any stitch of clothing on I was tuned out at that point. After all those years I wonder if those girls use that on the resume for future employeement? No actually I wonder if on a late night married to some guy if they don't use that for a little foreplay.....I'd sure trip out if my lady pulled a number like that, I'd need a  or  's to recover. And yes to the ones who didn't attach themselves to us for the free ride as a Westpac trophy! Best kept secret in my mind, heres too'em all :beerchug:

My wife suspects some stuff, but I'd never....I think tell here about the afgan that girl pulled out here box! Or the banana she binched into bite size pieces out the wonder box! Gives banana split a whole new meaning.
The "peso girls" that I/we encountered got wise to the heating a peso thing. So, a couple of guys started putting icy/hot on one peso about half way down the stack... OUCH!!!!
Does anybody remember playing the game "smiles" in the Barrio or Subic? A girl under the table giving a B.J. to each of the guys around the table... the first one to crack a smile had to buy the next round. My most favoritest game in the whole wide world.    Unfortunately, it is unheard of where I live in the states. :(

You know heard many many stories of that, but never experienced it. One thing just hearing that makes me smile, hell I'd loose everytime, I'd have to be a regular not to smile. That is me! Going out to Subic city, I'd stop by sweet 16, hence the name???? And my chief was always in there drinking a magoo! I'd say dude you ready to roll? Always his answer yeah after this one, he'd never leave! :drinkin:

A certain group of us HS-12 bubba's were avid players of smiles. And who cared if you 'lost'?? A round of beers for all eight or nine of was was what? 1.50 American dollars?!!
After they caught on to the heating of the Pesos, someone started rubbing Ben Gay all over the stack, with a big gob on top. Not the instant lift off as provided by red hot Peso's, but still rather fun to watch!!

The bar that made "Smiles" famous was Marilyn's in Subic City. It was the last bar on the right hand side of the street. If you ever visited the place you would know why they played "Smiles", it was like the retirement home for the girls :Boobies: .
My favorite hangouts in PI were J&B in the Barrio followed closely by the Smut Hut. The Olongapo Playboy club will allways hold fond memories in my heart (where I payed my first bar fine, and worth every peso even thouth I payed triple what I should have) .
We had this AZ who fell in love at the Playboy club and when he returned back to the boat with his Fuck it just Fuck it tee and what looked like a whole upper body hicky, we ragged his ass for like 3 weeks about getting married. Poor guy was a sport, but dude it was a meal ticket. He finally figured it was a goof and backed off. I remember this same guy going back to the world in December, wearing shorts a gunny sack that said those oh so true words Fuck it just fuck it, with the story of how it came to be and BC glasses too boot.! I'm sure he was looking good on the plane back to the world! He was a guy who drank his wardrobe and figured he looked great. After he got back from the world we took him out for a few beers and got him a new set of diggs, and new glasses, he was pissed that he couldn't stay messed up the whole inport, but later said thanks. Funny things I've remembered from the PI! Anyone have any lumpia, could use a tray and some banana catsup
So what was your favorite P.I. water hole?
Mine was Stone Crow and Florida club.
Mine was Slims Tavern! I spent months in that place! Had 2 cute DJ's. (Beng and Tess!) :)

I know what is missing! You need some Jeepney smoke and loud ass rock music and some kid pegging for some peso's to really get that feeling of the moment! Without those things, it is just some food! Damn it can anyone get this man a box of that to add to the recipe?

CAL JAM!!! Damn, Weps, I've been trying to remember the name of that place. Thanks for mentioning it.
Yeah, Chaff, I spent time in the Freak's bar. Even got the T-shirt, was a big fan of Freddie, Frank, and Phineas at the time. Still am, actually. Fond memories of playing midnight in there for hours.
Any of yous ever heard of this joint called Shades of Blue?
I loved cal jams, my boys and I used to hang out there all the time. This one night, we were all drinking and messing with the locals when these 2 LBFM's sat down. They were all dressed up, with the cut shirts and shorts with the F me shoes, and with the hair that was teased a mile high with Hairspray. Will my boy Brett was smoking and sat his lighter down, but remember the old bics, you could make them almost as high as a torch?? Well the LBFM, picked up the lighter, put a smoke in her mouth, hit the bic, and POOF, her hair went to... Man it was crazy, everyone was beating her hair, and my boy ended up dumping a pitcher of beer on her.... We never laughed so hard....The next night she was back, but had a bandana around her now scorched hair..It was the craziest thing. Was it MOJO they sold there??
Hey Weps you did hang in that joint a fair bit. Do you remember the band who sang who let the ho's out??? How about that big sign off the dance floor that read: no man to man dancing I never saw that but again I wasn't looking either.
Slims Tavern, damn I miss that place!
So I have this little shot of Weps Admin after his return trip abroad. Seems he don't know how to handle himself with a corn eater! He said her name is Samatha Swallowall, nice last name. I'm thinking an all right catch, but hey what do I know????
 WTF happened in Oakland?
This time I'm black in this shot and my ho looks more like Keith Richards the morning right after the concert. Hey Weps she looks a wee bit like a pino! And you said she was 28? Hey we gots a match! BTW can she sing "lets spend the night together"? Dude you really need to see King Pin this one here, well they could be sisters!
Weps,
If you play your cards right you might get them to make you some home made lumpia.
Hey nice one Ojive. I got another shot for you. This time I'm black in this shot and my ho looks more like Keith Richards the morning right after the concert. K

I was in the PI several times in the early 70's, and I dont remember a name of one single friggin Bar there. I was there to get laid and drunk, in that order. I still remember the sights, the smells and the shows, but I sure as hell dont remember the names of the clubs. I do remember a 3 day weekend me and 5 other guys had. We headed up to Blacks Beach (I think thats the name), it was on the way to Clark, maybe 20mi out of Subic. We hit a Bar there, picked up some girls and headed for the beach. We ended up on a small island about a mile out, with all of us running around naked and...........well, you figure it out.
Great times in the PI. Smiles was a stop we always made when inport. They were younger back then, lol:p

Gentlemen, You were all there years after I was. (74-76)There was the Cave. Outside the main gate and down on the left a little. Real monkeys roaming around inside. Also Moms, best Mojo around. New Jolo's, Shakey's pizza. Then there was the taco joint. First circle turn right, and there on the right. Best taco's and the world's hottest sauce. There was a place down by the second circle, that showed porno's and you could get BJ's, for a few extra peso's. Then there was a place in Subic City where one could watch the local girls of the evening take on mans best beasts. To be pc about it. LOL. Would be very interesting to go back and see it now. A supervisor from work just went back home to the PI at Christmas. Just outside of the old Clark AFB. He told me that there are 52 Peso's to the dollar. Man and I thought it was great to get drunk and laid on a ten spot. Oh the memories. Youth is sure wasted on the young. Everyone have a great year.
I gave my friend 350 p to take with him next month. Well when I was there it was alittle under 20 bucks it is really different now. He kind of laughed and I said I won't be needing it take you wife out for a meal. Not anymore you can't. Well it would be interesting to see it again, but it ain't like it used to be.
I was speaking with Weps Admin and he used to play at Cal Jams with the Amo Band back 20 odd years ago while in port and even went back to P.I. to play in the band back in the mid 1990's as a civilian. Well he tells me one of the singers is going to be in Journey as a lead singer and is in California now doing some recording and then going on tour.
little-known Filipino singer Arnel Pineda, from the former cover band Zoo (now performing original material).[4] Accompanying articles stated that Pineda had been invited to the United States to audition for the position of lead singer, and that MelodicRock.com's Andrew McNiece,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journey_(band)
Amo was very popular in the reknowned Chinese owned Cal-Jams club which was frequented by military personnel.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnel_Pineda
Pretty wild reminder of the days being in the PI and then twenty years later a guy from this band is now in the big time. Hope it works out for him, I can imagine the filipino network online trying to lay down scams about this guy and being in the old Amo band.
not to derail this thread too much, but I thought Journey's CD Arrival was pretty good. I forget who the lead was on that disc, but I thought he sounded better than Perry. More range. I'll be looking for the new release.
man, sure would be nice to be sitting in Cal Jams right now with an ice cold one. :what:
a cold one ain't the same with out a warm LBFM:thumbsup:
Well Peso bobby was an idiot anyways when you think of the opprtunities he could get if his large wife got hit by a JN in the cross walk and the Gomen Money or better yet when he allowed his little girl to eat so much she would almost burst at the seams! I mean you sang in the band and no one complained except that twisted fuck:rolleyes:

back in the 70's we used to go to subic city, with a stop at paradise beach, and usually go to the cherry club, then sometimes we would go to marilyns.most of the time the girls would already be at paradise beach when we got there, but you all know how they always wanted to go bar-hopping,but we would always return to the beach before curfew and party all night and sleep all day.the guy that ran paradise beach was named rudy.i wonder if he is still around.heck it has only been a little over 30 years since i was there.

The relative theory of gravity (the earth sucking) will pull both balls down at the same speed so scratch 2 bonka boats. well anyway...... Chaff dog:nuts: you old coot, musta been quite a laff watchin those little girls swim for shore.
myfavorite bars were KB4, D Cave, Old West #2, and Chatterbox pizza. There was a couple others, but I don't remember the names. My last west pac was 22years ago on USS Enterprise.
On my '78 Enterprise cruise, VF-2 went to Clark AFB for a 2 week detachment, so being Sailors word spread quickly that sailors would be in town. VF-2 had a whole barrack building to our selves so every night here were as many bar girls as sailors in the barracks. I got up early one sunday morning and showered with 9 bar girls and they all watched me take of my clothes, stand in front of the urinal and take a wizz, then shower. I got to see all of them, and feel a couple of them, and got my manlyness played with also.
Sinking two bonka boats with bowling balls? Now that's some funny shit
