Who should ask?

Okay, to take the 'who should pay' topic one step further, I would like to find out 'who should ask'?

What is the general opinion out there in X-Styles land about women asking men out? Do you guys like that? Do any of you women do that?

My thinking is that if a guy wants to go out with me, he'll ask, if he doesn't, he won't.

Oh yeah - one more thing - if the woman asks the man out and he says yes - who pays??

I say he/she who does the asking, does the paying.

PB, I very much respect any woman who takes the initiative and asks the guy out. I agree that whoever asks should be whoever pays.

And PB your comment is correct if the guy does want to go out with you he will likely ask; but what if he is shy, etc...? In just such a situation, you could be waiting quite possibly indefinitely. Today's 90's guy (Generally, unless he was raised in Texas) will appreciate the she is taking that initiative because of a couple factors: It shows interest, boldness, demonstrates that quintessentially important initiative; it shows a desire to follow through, etc...Safe to say just an overall, general trait that is so under-recognized, under-appreciated, and happens even all too infrequently even now. That will likely continue to change as times become more and more modern though and more people have professional responsibilities.

Like 'who should pay' I don't think anything should be set in stone, or too complex, on this issue either. In general, I have to agree with ya PB. Why not, the guy traditionally asks the girl out, if he is too much of a wuss, or shy, then what good would it be to go out with him anyway... ?

While I think it is fine for a woman to ask a man out, I agree with Caleb & RedAaron that men should generally be the ones doing the asking. If the guy is the type who waits around for a girl to ask him out he is a passive wimp & who would want to go out with him anyway? I like my men manly, strong and assertive!
