I'm dissapointed that I haven't seen any messages in this computer gaming section. So here goes:
Has anybody seen the new game, 'Aliens vs. Predator'. It goes along very nicely with the sci-fi classics 'Aliens' and of course 'Predator'. If you like the 3d shooter genre of game and those sci-fi classics this game may be a worthy investment of 40 bucks.
Well, maybe 5 if you have a CD burner!
Aliens vs. Predator lets you play colonial marine, an alien, or the predator. Personaly I'd say the most fun is found in playing hte marine blowing away aliens left and right, as in the style of the aliens movie!
Well hope ya get a chance to check it out!! If anybody even gets this message or checks this thread. hhehehehhehe.

There are a few messages in here, but not many. You have to change your settings on the top right to go back more than 20 (or 10) days.
I saw an advertisement for Aliens vs. Predator on a Half-Life site yesterday. I didn't check it out though. You already have it? I thought you guys had a CD-burner down there.
The only third-person shooter I've ever enjoyed was Half-Life. I'm just not that quick with my fingers. I mostly play the strategy/simulation stuff --- Civ/MOO/etc. I also like the semi-strategy games like AOE/C&C/Starcraft, but I haven't played one in a long time.

yeah, I already have it. And yeah, from the burner... hehe.
I also like strategy games more than shoot em up types.
I've played Moo2 and Civ2 but I was not too impressed by StarCraft.
Battlezone is one of my favorites. And usualy space simulations like MOO2...

Do any of you remember a game called "Ascendancy"? That was a great space sim. It is quite dated now, but it was alot of fun. I recall that the same people made another space sim later, but don't know the name of it. Anyone here know it?
As far as my favorite games, I love Starcraft. But, when I want a good long sim, I play Civilization 2 or Caesar 3. I may get the new Civ game, i hear it's pretty good. MOO was a blast, so was Star Control 2 (for it's time, although the sequels sucked).
I love shoot 'em ups! Half-Life online is a blast; as is Unreal, Quake 2, Jedi Knight, etc. Also X-Wing Alliance! Anyone wanna hook up for multi play let me know.

I still have Ascendency, the controls and graphics are great, but it was too easy. The company that made it is called Logic Factory. They came out with an "aggressor" patch once, but it was still too easy.
As far as Civilization goes, please refer to my review of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri in the "Coffee House". Also, if you set this newsgroup to look back more than 20 days you'll see other Civilization comments (see the pull-down box in the top right corner).
I've also played Civ: Call to Power and was planning on doing a review. Unfortunately, I had problems playing it on Windows NT. It did have some gameplay problems, but, I have not played it since the first patch came out.
MOO2 rules, but often crashes on Windows NT. MOO2 is the old standby when I want a gauranteed, quality, diversion.
As I mentioned in an old post, if only they could combine the best features of MOO2, Civ2 and a little game you probably never heard of called Space Empires 3. Search around for Space Empires, it used to be free. You'll probably like it (unless you demand graphic stimulation in your games).

I forgot about the truly best real time strategy game ever made, thus far.
Total Annihilation!
It is the only game that I have ever bought that I can still play 2 years later! Besides an old game called Duke Nukem 3d.
But TA was the first to offer downloadable maps and units where you could update the game from the website, usually monthly.
Awsome game. Anybody who is interested, I'll give my ICQ number and we can play over hte net. If ya have it that is...

I have TA and the Core Contingency. I haven't played either in about a year or so, but I loved it when I did play it. Alot of variety keeps it fun.
