I've had to come to grips with certain staples in my makeup bag being discontinued..I can deal with that. I've found a good mascara and lipstick. I'm still on the hunt for a certain color eyeshadow, but I have 20 others to do me in the meantime. I had a scare today, though... I can't find my shampoo and conditioner anywhere. I've been having trouble finding it for awhile now, but I thought it was just the store I was shopping. I branched out and found it another place... then it was gone the next time. I checked the website and there was nothing about it being discontinued, so I checked at the drug store. I found it's bin.. empty.. with 90% clearance labels!!!! I went back to the website and found the company contact number. They do still make the products, but I was told the distributor might be refusing to bring it to this area because it's not selling well enough. I can't understand that. It's not an expensive brand, but it's not an off brand.. I use Salon Selectives. I've used it for years. My hair is fine, curly and I use color... I've used expensive things and specially formulated products.. nothing works. I NEED MY SHAMPOO!!!! I'm down, but not out.. at least they still make it.. they gave me a couple of places to try that aren't too far away.. if that doesn't work, I can probably find it online... somewhere.

Anyone else mourning a dead product?

Yeah, Quisp Cereal! I know they still make it, but I can't find it in Georgia & I'm not going to order it online.

Don't know if it's dead, but Pringles Salt and Vinegar chips are real hard to find around here.

Ever since my pet rock died 28 years ago I've been going to pet stores looking for a new one but I think they've been discontinued.

I use Tomato Puree in my sauces (a normal soup can size)- just to jazz up the tomato flavor without the chunks of tomato that my kids won't eat. I can't find it in grocery stores anymore - and when I do it's in industrial size cans - to big for a family size pot. Silly thing I know, but one of those staples in my household.

You're in luck... I can get them here. They're expensive, though. I'll give you an address where you can send the check and as soon as it clears, I'll make sure your pet gets to you, safe and sound.

Go relax, you sound like you need it.

By the way, this is sarcasm in case anyone missed it. How many times I gotta tell you people never to read my posts without a sense of humor. I need a waring label or some such shit here? LOL.

Really, wrecker, what's got you so uptight?

Kimmy, I understand your frustration completely!
I wear waterproof mascara and it is more difficult to take off than the regular kind. I used a make-up remover that worked great and suddenly I couldn't find it. (It was a white paste in a tub by Almay or Max Factor) I looked at different stores and in different cities and even contacted the manufacturer. They stopped making it.

Several years later I still haven't found anything I like as well.

Finally got aroung to reading this thread this morning. Anyway, I was thinking about y'all today when I went shopping. :D

Kimmy, I saw my ex's mom had Salon Selectives at her house. I didn't see it in the grocery store, but I'll ask her if they have it at Costco. Maybe if you know someone with a Costco/Price Club card, you could check that out.

Barb, didn't see any Quisp cereal. But I'll keep checking around; going to a few other stores this week.

Cuda, you talking about the old Dodge Darts and Swingers? My brother had a '68, and yeah it was a nice car.

Shotty, you're in luck! We still have Pringle's Salt and Vinegar Chips here. And it just so happens that the ex (the truckdriver) goes thru your town every week. So I could pack ya 4 or 6 cans in a box of popcorn foam, and get him to drop it off somewhere for y'all. They had other flavours too; I don't know if you get them, some kinda Cajun, Sour Cream and Onion, and something else (I didn't write them down).

Barb's cereal (if I can find it) and Shotty's chips would be easy shipping because they're light. But let me talk to him in the next few days and find out when he'll be back again, he's just left for CA.

Can't help y'all with the makeup stuff, never worn it, never will.

Kim P., I have recipes calling for tomato puree, but I've yet to see it anywhere, even when I lived in Detroit. We do have ground tomatoes in a can, but they're the 28-oz. size. I wonder if you could just get a can of tomatoes, strain it well to get rid of any seeds, then drain it, puree it in the blender, and drain again? I know this would be time-consuming, but if you did a few cans at a time, you should be able to freeze it in small amounts, like tomato paste. Just a thought. :) Or just freeze portions of that industrial sized can.

And I miss:
Franco-American Macaroni & Cheese in a can. One of my favourite lunches when I was growing up. Heinz has a version of it, but it's nowhere near as good.
Carnation Creamed Salmon & Peas in a can. I remember having this for supper with toast. I make my own version now.

Can't think of anything else right now (hey this post is long enough). I do remember bringing things back and forth across the border when I worked in the States, like Vernor's ginger ale for my brother and Red Rose tea for my Detroit friends. :)

Hey, thanks KrzDefKat. :) I used to eat that cereal as a kid & several years ago I found a few boxes at a Big Lots in Louisiana. Surprised me because I hadn't seen it since I was a kid. I bought all the boxes & gave them to my brothers & sisters. I just thought it would be neat to see how my kids liked it. (I'm not a big cereal eater anymore) Quisp (http://www.quisp.com/) They used to sell it together with Quake Cereal.

A few years ago there was a product called "Didi 7" Didi is Vietnamese for "leave, or, get out" (what the "7" part means, I have no idea). I have a little bit left in the tube. It gets out anything: blood stains, paint, horseshit, you name it, and doesn't effect the fabric or dyes in it! Of course since it works so well, it's not around anymore. :(

Pistol try one of those as sold on tv type mall stores. They might have some.
