from Admiral Mixson.

Midway arrived at her new berth along historic Navy Pier on North Harbor Drive at 11:35 AM, Saturday, Jan 10, 2004. Thousands watched as tugs pushed the historic carrier into her mooring platforms. Now the next phase begins as engineers and contractors work to install fire suppression systems and safety railings so that Midway can open as a museum in late spring.

We will welcome our Circle of Friends members and major donors aboard in the spring for guided behind the scenes tours of the museum in the making. Guided tours will include a visit to the hangar bays and flight deck along with a hike up through the island superstructure and a very special preview of our exhibits under construction.

If you are not already a member of our Circle of Friends, visit our web site at www.midway.org and click on "how can you help" to join. If you are interested in visiting the museum once it opens, purchase one of our commemorative ticket packages, to be delivered after January 15, 2004 available online at www.midway.org.

Our staff of five will be growing soon. If you are interested in museum employment, please mail your resume to the address below. Positions to be filled this spring include: Curator, Exhibits Director, Education Director, Volunteer Coordinator, and Executive Assistant. Hourly positions for admissions, bookkeeping, exhibit development, and general maintenance will be opening in May.

We appreciate the support of all our donors and volunteers over the past twelve years. We look forward to building the American flagship of carrier aviation museums in the coming years.

Attention! Having just read the Adm. Statement, I can honestly say that more positions for employment have opened up. Let me establish my *bona Fides* first. I am a volunteer on the Pier. Our primary task is to help control access to the Pier and ultimately, the ship itself. In reality, We happy band of volunteers are serving, in our own opinion, a much greater need. The ship is getting upwards of 150 *walk up* visitors a day. We answer questions about history, misssion and background of the ship. Teresa Randal is our Supervisor and she really is a neat lady. Poor woman, she is having to constantly modify her instructions to meet the reality of so many folks walking up.

On to the main reason I am writing this. Currently, 3 jobs are in need of paid employees.
Welders
Plumbers
Electricians.
We have flyers, at the pier that explain the process to Apply. If you live in the Greater San Diego Region, stop by and we will give you a flyer, job application and instructions for submitting the App. We also hand out applicatiosn for future hourly employment.

Again, Please note. We the Pier volunteers send our visitors to a pair of websites. www.midway.org and this one! Buzz, for all you do, we the volunteers salute you!

Thanks a bunch Billntwrk! There's another website that you might also want to mention. Troy Prince's midwaysailor.com. Troy's got a lot of great stuff as well and we've been feeding one another material as it comes in. Together I think we have the largest collection of USS Midway information you're likely to find.

I hope SADCM is able to fill those positions soon. I know if I lived out there I'd be helping out in the restoration hangar.

Thanks again and keep us filled in on what's going on and how any of us might help in the future!
