First off, thanks guys! If it were not for Bressler.Org, I wouldn't have bothered to learn advanced Photoshopping techniques to even be able to undertake a project like this! :)

A buddy of mine wanted a realistic instrument panel for his Project Mercury creation for the Orbiter Space Flight Simulator ( http://www.orbitersim.com ). And I produced.

I had the unique experiance to view actual NASA blueprints and consultation with the worker from the Alabama Space and Rocket Museum, which houses the Sigma 7 spacecraft.

Using this information, and many weeks of work in Photoshop, I have finally crafted an historically accurate instrument panel for the Mercury spacecraft!

Not too shabby for an old man, eh? ;)

Very nice. I might just save that to use as a desktop sometime.

Really good job ya did there, BigJim. Looks like a lot of work.
Does it come with the smell of John Glenn's record, orbital fart? :hehe:

Excellent Work BigJim!! No wonder you don't have time to PS in Bresslerland lately.

I printed it out and pasted in inside a large cardboard box for Son of Peck to play with out in the yard. I hope he comes in soon, it's gettin' cold out there.

Heh, funny you should mention that, a guy that posts on my board actually got to sit in Sigma 7 when the museum closed (and the guards weren't around) and he told me that it's developed quite a number of funky smells over the years. :hehe:

Heres a couple of interesting additions I made recently to add to the realism:

"Where are ya gonna put a window in that thing?"

And heres an accurate, working version (very rough first draft) of the Periscope they had in the craft:
