We all bitch about commercials while watching TV, but I think they are more entertaining and have more thought put into them than most TV shows. The publicity and chatter that the commercials aired during the Superbowl proves my point to some degree.
I like the new Huummer commercial, where the kid builds a Hummer for a soap box derby race, then goes off road.
Back in the late 80's or early 90's, Bugle Boy Jeans had a commercial featuring hot women in bikinis and/or lingerie while strutting their stuff. Text scrolled on the bottom of the screen saying something like "We here at BB Jeans know what guys want to see, therefore we are not showing our products. Instead look at the women." I don't remember what exactly it said, but I do remember the women...and the company as well. Isn't that what the commercial is for, to remember the company/product? Good job if you ask me.

Terry Tate, Office Linebacker....wish they had some more of those. :D
My favourite commercial right now is the one from Lendingtree.com with that guy on the little lawnmower...
"how do I do it? I am in debt over my eyeballs" :hehe: Great.

Who remembers the Tootsie Pop commercials where the kid keeps saying "Pop, pop, Tootsie Pop" and then ends it with "Pop, pop, Tootsie Pop, dad" and the sheep dog's ears stick straight up?
Or, "Speedy Alka Seltzer"?

A step above: McDonald's is gearing up for using only organic meat for 2004.
I love the Federal Express commercial where a very professionally dressed black lady is talking to a white guy in a suit. He is obviously a newly hired employee and she is orienting him. She walks over to a computer and says something like, "Now you can do the shipping. It's real easy." The guy says, "Uhhhhh. I don't....DO shipping. I have an MBA." She looks at him with a concerned look on her face and says, "Oh, you have an MBA". He smiles proudly. She sits down in front of the computer and says, "In that case, I'll have to show you how to do it.".
The announcer says something like, "Federal Express shipping is so easy, even people with an MBA can do it."
*love it*

I don't remember that one, Pete. I just remember the one about "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?" and a blue, cartoon owl taking one bite to get to the center.

Another current favorite is the Gap commercial with this incredibly sexy man in jeans. It's the "Broken in Jeans" by Gap commercial.
A sexy man gets up out of bed. We get to see his bare chest and abs and then shots of his ass in the Gap jeans. The song...."Tempted by the fruit of another" is playing. It's all about various shots of this hot, sexy man in his jeans and it ends with him shirtless, and falling onto the bed on his stomach. Gives another nice shot of his ass and makes any normal woman want to jump right in there with him.

That Gap ad really pisses me off. I was in the final round of cuts for starring in that ad and they chose Raoul Bova over me. Just because he's like the "Italian Bradd Pitt" or some crap.
Up here in Canuck Land we mostly just have funny beer ads. I haven't heard of some of the ads you guys are referring to.

Are you serious? Is he Italian? Seriously, I want to know. I seem to have this strong attachment to Italian men. I love the dark, thick, wavy hair, dark skin and dark eyes. The northern accent...etc. I'm very attracted to that type of man. I don't know why. My husband knows that I am puzzled why I ended up with a blond-haired blue-eyed Texan man. (But, he is a gorgeous man!)

The one for KFC
Where the guys is gnawing on a chicken breast and his friends ask him what he has done lately because he looks to be in good shape...and with a mouthful of chicken, he responds "eat chicken"
The commercial proceeds to state that chicken is a low carb, high protein food but in little, itty, bitty letters on the bottom of the screen they state that the chicken is high in fat and cholestoral....
Has anyone ever lost weight from eating KFC????

You CAN eat it on a low carb diet. You should pull the breading off. There's nothing else you can eat there, though. What got me was the other commercial, where they play the low fat angle.

I like the one where McNabb and his mother take Chunky soup to this guy’s house. After they're done eating, he asks if they can play one game before they go. Then they both start arguing over who gets to be McNabb. The guy finally says "it's my house, I'm McNabb".

I love the Budwiser commercial where a reporter is interviewing a football player (Leon) asking him what happened during the game and Leon blames everyone else including the reporter.
Another great one is where the reporter asks him about his injuries and the football player says that in no way will it affect his commercial endorsements. Then when asked about playing that weeks game he says no, I couldn’t risk it.

I just crack up laughing at a new coffee maker comercial. It shows a woman in the kitchen, putting a mini-prefilled filter into a coffee maker with a coffee mug at the base. MEANWHILE, in the background you see a man in bed waving his hand telling the girl that he's ready NOW. :sperm: Anyhow, the chic turns on the maker and dashes into the bedroom shedding her robe (all interesting parts ccovered by doorknobs and the coffee maker.) A moment later the coffee-maker dings and she comes back out in robe and picks up the mug of coffee - comments, "fabulous' and her gentleman friend pats her on the back and says - "I know." The announcer breaks in with, "when you've got 90 seconds to kill..." I fall off my chair every time I see that.
:hehe:
Yep, thats a cute one, K Poss.
I've seen the commercial a few times, but couldn't tell you the brand name of what they were advertising.
Anyone seen the Time Warner commercial with Vanessa Carlton? I hate it..with a passion.. don't know why.. I don't like her music, but I've never hated her.

The best commercial I've seen in years and still makes me laugh even after the 30th time (that tells you how dry my sense of humor can be sometimes) is the Geico commercial with the cave men. Have you seen it?
Commercial starts of with the Geico spokesman advertising the new web site and says, "Geico's new web site is so easy a cave man could use it..." Off screen someone yells "NOT COOL". The camera breaks away to a caveman throwing down his boom mike, storming off the set, and yelling angry words the guy.
The commercial comes back, this time on TV and he says the same phrase. Camera breaks away to an offended cave man on the couch who jumps up exclaiming, "What's that supposed to mean?" He looks over at primitive caveman buddy manipulating a laptop computer who is very putout, shakes his head and says, "So condescending." The caveman in the back playing some refined piano music has no comment.
Here's a good ad for you. :D

then in the end when he finally gets thru the train reaches a tunnel..

I like the new recruiting commercials they have now. My favorite one that I have seen in the last couple of days is the one that the Army has out. It starts out like a PC or XBOX military recon game. It shows the soldiers fighting, then the camera turns and you see a couple of people playing the game. Next, you see a soldier on the game turns around and look and talk to the people playing the game. Then it shifts to the regular Army commercial.
I also like the Geico commercials. The cavemen are the best!
