Need help locating anyone who remembers a shipmate being badly burned in October 1971. R. Rich I believe is his name, served in the V-4 Division. The event happened around 3AM while he was sleeping on the bottom bunk.
I had the top bunk and recieved burns to my legs, while Rich was burned from his waist to the top of his head.
I have nightmares to this day everytime I see fire. Waking up in the middle of the night surrounded in fire would do that. I have filed a claim for PTSS but was denied the claim because there is no record of the event, or so the VA says. It is up to me to provide the VA proof the event happened.
If there is anyone who remembers a guy from V-4 division being servely burned, please. please contact me. Or if you know how I might be able to get any information to support my claim please e-mail me.
There is entries in my medical records showing being treated for burns, but it fails to mention how I got burned, the VA went as far as saying I might not have been burned while on board ship!!! I guess they think I jumped ship, swam to North Viet Nam, got burned, and swam back to the ship without being detected.
