In light of current instability in the neighboring forum of Janmurray, I, JBMoney, Emperor of Bressler.org, Lord High Regent of Bushwhacked.net, and Supreme Caliph of various lesser realms, do hereby assert my claim to the Janmurray Forum throne and my right to succession.
While various pretenders may unjustly claim to serve as Janmurray Crown Prince, we assert that our noble rights are not only divinely recognized, but are clearly established through tradition.
The blessed realm of Bressler.org has thoughtlessly contributed the efforts of its finest citizens in transforming the previously barbaric culture of Janmurray to something approaching respectability. Indeed, during Janmurray's darkest hour, many from our own royal court labored diligently to introduce the varied benefits and reforms of civilization.
None can afford to sit idly by while factions fight over the remains of the once promising kingdom of Janmurray, and while various splinterboards unjustly claim the loyalty of its citizens.
It is by divine providence, that the burden to lead this land has been laid upon my shoulders. I humbly accept this charge.
In celebration of this momentous occassion, the court of Bressler.org will be open today to receive petitions from the citizenry of Janmurray.

Hi everyone ...
This is a combined post from Shelley and I and the hardest post written by either of us to date.
The Forum is closing this week definitely.
We realise that some explaining is in order given the first closing of a couple of weeks ago, so we will ...
After the first notice that the site was closing Shelley and I contacted Richard (Admin) to beg him to talk Jan Murray into keeping the Forum open - so many people had made relationships with others on the forum (regardless of whether they agreed or not) and felt bereft at the impending loss of a gathering point. It felt somewhat like our favourite pub had rudely been demolished overnight! So we contacted him and he said that he would contact Jan to see if the place could be kept open.
A main concern seemed to be that since Beauty and the Beast was no longer in production and Jan’s public relations company was re-opening, the JanMurray.com forum was no longer a viable complement to her "image" (I will not conjecture as to what Jan's image is, or was, or needs to be to achieve her aims). Perhaps if the site were more intellectual, more issues based, less chatty? More in line with what Jan seemed to want to achieve initially? ... It seems that the criteria required to bolster Jan's "image" have not been met. To her loss we feel.
Today Shelley and I received a message from Admin informing us that the site will definitely be closed down finally by the end of the week. It has left us saddened beyond even our own belief and somewhat disappointed in the Jan Murray Team.
What they have failed to understand is that all of us who have come together under the proclaimed banner of "keeping it real" have indeed kept it real! We chat, we discuss, we disagree, we argue. The fact that we are all still here talking to each other (or simply reading threads) transcends not only their own self-serving definition of the phrase but indeed proves that discussion takes many forms, that even the most inane topics can promote understanding between people however disparate. We feel that had Jan contributed more to the discussions in the forum she would have had a better appreciation of what she was trying to accomplish.
To us, it is a misunderstanding of human communication that renders this forum unnecessary, a misunderstanding which says more about the transitory need for public consumability than an honest belief in open discussion and freedom of thought.

I perused around JM a few times and I must say, that site was more boring than Al Gore trying to form a thought. Those who didn't agree 100% with the locals' inane, leftist perception of reality, we're hammered as mercilessly as a cheap steak in an East St. Louis diner. No quarter was given unless a person was over-joyed with guy's humping each other, defending murderers as "victims", and/or bashing the USA.
Perhaps they've been upside-down too long. Perhaps I've been right-side up too long. Whatever the case, JB, you're gettting a pig-in-a-poke.

For all the JMs on here, I did more than peruse the site. I posted about 40 times, off and on, and had a ball getting responses that ranged from "huh?" to "Listen, shit for brains! We're a closed community and don't want your conventional ideas! So bugger off!"

If anyone is taking over janMurray it's ME! There's a rule of thumb that says ClanLord gets EVERYTHING outside of Bressler.org.
Since you have taken it upon yourself to crown thy head Emperor then I'm left with no other choice but to create a Rebel movement to steal the province of Janmurray for my own.
It WILL be mine unless I lose interest prior to crowning myself Emperor.

I'm glad the JM folks have their own Forum too. Nobody wants to see communities die out (except maybe Stibroker).
Honestly though, if a few folks could realize opportunity when they see it, and recognize a friend when they see one, the whole JM open-close-open-close-open-close-open episode (which is probably still not over) could have been done and moot (and I'm not referring to this little sub-forum as being the answer).
The management over there really seems to have very little concern for the day to day nuances of running a forum, and I would not be surprised to see further upheavals in the future, as I doubt the whole 'Jan Murray Image' question has been played out to its fullest.
I think you've been granted a reprieve while things are 'under review'.

There was only ever one elite Gurkha regiment in Hongkong. The Gurkhas have been the stoic backbone of the British Empire since the early 1800's. Passing through the Khyber Pass into Aghanistan, to Kabul. I remember the Gurkha regiment in Peshawar. They are a short, loyal, battle hardened entity. Not to be messed with. :)

Alexander The Great passed through the Khyber Pass on his way to India and a bunch of his army got their asses kicked. Just a couple of points
1/ at least 1 battalion of Gurkhas went from HK to Brunei after the handover
( when and if I get time I'll research this further)
2/ Why let the facts get in the way of a good story!
