Welcome fellow 115 alumni. :) I did most of my time on the Eagle line too.
I've got some fresh pics of the line shack from when I was there to put on cv41.org.

AD3 Stevens,
I remember you, I was a line shack puke until I made PN3. PN3 (now PNC) Cunningham, still active navy. Stationed in Spokane Washington. I agree, those squadron days were good ones. Take Care.

Us 1sux1 line people partied with 115 line crew regularly. We might fight over power cables on the deck, but we always laughed about it. We kinda made it a race when we got chocked & chained down to haul ass to the deckedge cables.
Yall had the coldest sodas on the ship in the mid 70s!

I was in the 115 'Family' back in the Seventies, specifically August 76 - 78, and I remember you well Mr. one sux one. We partied quite a bit as I remember, actually any chance we got. Did you ever climb up on those drop tanks with us in the hanger bay? Im sure you did.
But whats up with that avitar dude? As a card carrying member of the 115 & Midway family and alumni, I demand you edit your avitar 'Dylumph'! That 'chick' picture in no way represents the guy who had a goofy bird with a chevron on the back of his flight deck helmet! Dylumphhhhhhhhhhhhhh! What if some little kid sees that, Huh?
Unfortunately I didn't see the goofy bird as one of the choices on this message board, but I do believe you can submit your own if you like.

I'm trying (as much as I like Jennifer Anniston's butt) to change that thing. When I joined the forum there wasn't near as many to choose from. I guess I'll be ate-up and use my old squadrons sign. Too bad they don't have the "lightning bolt hittin' the shit-house" sign we used to stensil on our jerseys!

Ok,
This should be just as easy as following those NAVPUB-INSTMANCOMUALs that we used to love to browse through in our spare time.
Go to edit options under your profile (top of screen)
At the bottom of the edit options screen you will see avitar with more info printed under it.
Click on more info - which will bring up all the avitar choices.
Right click on the avitar you want and save it as 'save picture as' on your computer.
Return to the change avitar option under 'edit options' and choose 'use custom avitar'
Hit the browse button and open the file you just saved.
Update your choices at the bottom and Jennifer Aniston is history.
Relax now, because that is more work than anybody should ever have to do to change something so simple as a little picture on a screen.
Good luck Dylumphhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Airman McKie here VA-115 86-88 Airframes/Corrosion Control. VA-115 was the best place to be on the Midway. I made AMS3 in Va205 in NAS Atlanta in the reserves and tried to go back to 115 during the first gulf war but they wouldn't let me re-enlist  Stevens, I remember you too.
Hey McKie, What's up? Just read your post... I remember you too....lol. I tried to get back in during Desert Storm... they told me that there were too many reservists called to active duty. So, no re-enlistment. I was pissed. I had only been out for about 2 months. I always wondered why they would rather spend countless thousands of dollars training newbies when they could have just given us new uniforms (in my case, I still had my old ones) and shipping orders. The military is still thinking with it's ass. I guess they were trying to bring in the "New Navy".
Catman
I tried to get back in just prior to Desert Storm kicking off. I had been out for three years. The recruiter told me that the best he could is cross rate me from AQ to FC, so I was all set to do that. The day before I was to go in and sign the papers he called and said forget it. They weren't letting any NAVETS back in period. I felt the same way Catman. Didn't make a bit of sense to me.

I was on the USNS Killauea during the Gulf War and nothing was more awesome than seeing the Midway bow on with 4 other aircraft carriers in the gulf, God damn seeing such firepower in one place was glorious.

I was a NAVET in '80 lost a stripe and went straight to hotel 41. It was all a matter of timing to get back in. I'm glad I did it, now.

There is a nice pic in the 1990-1991cruise book of the carriers, they were Midway,America, Teddy Roosevelt, and Ranger, ( can not remember seeing 5 carriers together, but there may have been )
I do remember standing on the fantail when the USS Wisconsin pulled in behind us, now that was a impressive sight
I also remember all the reservists that got sent out to us, it was over kill big time, most of them did not want to be their in the first place and wanted to get back home to their civillian job ( I dont think we even needed them,) it was not that differant than a normal cruise, except that the birds flew off the deck loaded down with ordanance and came back empty, and the big stack of "nukes" in the corner of the hanger bay that the jarheads were guarding

"Damn I guess nothing ever changes much I had sort of forgotten about the struggle to keep a set of Pwr cables until I read this. I recall one night I came on duty and was told that our cables had gotten legs.So I says to one of my guy's guess we will have to go snatch some for ourselves. We looked the hangar deck over and there was not much that looked promising so we went up to the flt deck and saw one lonely Phantom back in our area ,near # 3 elevator ,it had lights on in the cockpit and one poor sole working away like a beaver (actually he could have been reading skin books I don't know) anyway he was distracted and it was darker than a well diggers ass out on the deck .So I told the guy with me to go hit the off sw. and jerk the cable (actually there were two with a junction box ) when he hit the sw. and I saw the light go out in the cockpit I jerked the cable out of the F4 and jerked on it to seperate the two cables leaving the poor sole sitting in the dark blind as a bat:cry: while we headed out in oposite directions ,we ended up back at our shop and did a little Brand blotting on our new cables  . Dennis you old dog!!!! What the Hell is up with you? I have been trying to find some of my old party buddies for years now. And we had a few parties (porch parties, Honch parties, Yokohama parties, Roppongi parties, etc...) Didn't I sell you that Corolla that I had when I shipped out? I sold the Celeste to Casserotti... Well, I sold the stereo to Cass and threw in the car for free... Send me an e-mail and let me know what's going on. I would love to hear from you.
