..What should we do with them, there is no cure, they become sick so easily that they are no longer useful members of society, they spread their illness. I suppose we could consider it like the cows infected with mad cow disease, who are killed and then cremated to stop the spread of the virus, should we order mass executions of the many aids sufferers. I suppose it is a ethical issue. But killing bovines to stop the spread of the virus to other cows seems to be showing more consideration for the cows. Should we kill all those with aids, to save the human race? It shows we care about our people, but it seems wrong to kill millions simply because of one mistake.. what do you think?

Um, assuming you are asking seriously and not just trolling, I'll just start with a couple points:

First, cattle infected with "mad cow" disease are destroyed for financial reasons, not out of consideration for the other cows, which are being bred only for slaughter and/or milk anyway. They are destroyed because it is cheaper to do that than it would be to isolate and attempt to treat the infected ones. I suppose it would certainly be cheaper to treat humans infected with any potentially fatal, potentially transmitable disease in the same manner, sort of like the 14th century when you'd wall up your Black Plague infected relatives to starve as soon as they became symptomatic.

Second, I suggest that you can only honestly make such a suggestion if you are perfectly okay with such a policy being enforced when you or one of your loved ones turns up with HIV (which, by the way is not the same as AIDS, and does not always develop into AIDS). If you can honestly say you'd volunteer for euthansia for yourself, or perhaps your 6-month-old child (who may have picked it up as a result of a hospital blood transfusion, not necessarily as a result of a "mistake"), then we can separate the ethical issues and just deal with the finacial ones.

I don't have a disease, most evolved humans are immune to everything

You're way of thinking is ignorant as usual, DeamonSeed.

Perhaps we should worry about erradicating the murderer's and child molesters before we start killing off people who are sick. I'm almost certain, though this is a generalization, that the majority of people diagnosed with HIV didn't chose to become ill with it. Murderer's and child molester's, on the other hand, have chosen to be scum of the earth.

I wasn't being ignorant, you should know that I don't believe in executing millions because they didn't protect themselves or they recieved wrong blood transfer, But pissing people off always gives me the ebst responses, maybe we should just quarentine people with HIV or aids? During the plague they often just took the bodies and burned them, even those still alive, remember monty python and the holy grail, where they go and say bring out your dead, but that guy isn't dead yet, heh thats funny.. I shall go rent that tonight, anyway funny example of awful thing

Maybe if drug users and queers were more responsible about the disease they have brought to such prominence, it would not be so bad as it is now.

Let's face it, nearly 100% of all AIDS cases fall into one of both of those categories. So, AIDS has exploded due to gays and dope fiends not caring, or intentionally spreading it "so you can see how it feels".

Maybe we should just quarantine them in Cuba with the Afghanis we have there, and they can all sit around singing Cumbaya together and humping each others rumps.

I agree, DeamonSeed....Monty Python and the Holy Grail was hilarious.

This is a true story as told by my mother.

A friend of her's was staying at a nice hotel in Madison, WI. Nice town, lots of college kids arounds and such. Anyway, her and her husband ordered a pizza from their hotel room. They waited the typical 45 minutes for it to arrive. When the delivery boy had gotten paid and left, the husband decided to quick go grab two sodas from the machine down the hall, and the wife went with him to grab some ice. When they came back their phone was ringing. Kathy, my mother's friend, answered it and heard the following:

"This is the pizza delivery boy. I hope you are enjoying your pizza. Before I delivered the pizza to your door, I came all over it. I have AIDS."

The kid was subsequently found and arrested on some charges (though I can't remember which charges exactly, but I know he was pretty much f*cked.)

Here's an example of the "scum of the earth" I was speaking about in my previous post. The majority of people with HIV/AIDS are just sick. A small percentage of them are crazy, like the sick-f*ck above. For these kinds of people, the ones who threaten others with their illness?..... those are the ones who need to be in Guantanamo Bay......yep.

Laurie, I can't buy this story... it just smaks of an urban legend. This one's just like the guy who goes on the business trip/convention and is approached by a beautiful woman in a bar. They return to his room and have sex and when he awakes he finds himself alone but a message scrawled accross the mirror of his bathroom that says "Welcome to the wonderful world if AIDS".

It's never someone that YOU knew.. no, it's a friend of a friend or a friend of the family, etc... I bet if you asked your mother again about the story she would realize that the friend who told it to her actually heard about it from a friend or a relative or some co-worker.

Eddy,

You are so right it f*cken kills me. But I admit it when I need to.

Kathy is a friend of one of my mother's co-workers.

Could be false, could be true. Though I vaguely remember something in the news about it. Wish I could find a news article or something.

It would be interesting if it turned out it was true. If you find an article please post it. It would interesting to find out if the guy really had AIDS or if he was just a nut bag...

Did you get the response you were after?
anyone who would be stupid enough to state the things you have, is either an idiot, or just wants to piss everyone off.
with you i reckon it's the former.

Alot of the posts I make I intend to be controversial, because 1. they get alot of replies, 2. It gives me something to exercise my brain on, defending a almost undefensible position

i do recall a woman years back, being arrested on attempted murder charges for having unprotected sex with any man she could find. I think she was trying to pass AIDS on to as many people as she could. Maybe someone remembers that case?

I figure things like that are usually urban legends though

Three convicts were on the way to prison. They were each allowed to take
one item with them to help them occupy their time while incarcerated. On
the bus, one turned to another and said, 'So, what did you bring?' The
second convict pulled out a box of paints and stated that he intended to
paint anything he could. He wanted to become the 'Grandma Moses of Jail'.
Then he asked the first, 'What did you bring?' The first convict pulled
out a deck of cards and grinned and said, 'I brought cards. I can play
poker, solitaire and gin, and any number of games.' The third convict, who
was a Vol fan, was sitting quietly aside, grinning to himself. The other
two took notice and asked, 'Why are you so smug? What did you bring?' The
guy pulled out a box of tampons and smiled. He said 'I brought these.' The
other two were puzzled and asked - 'What can you do with those?' He
grinned and pointed to the box and said - 'Well according to the box, I
can go horseback riding, swimming, roller-skating....'!

For all you folks worried about HIV:

You cant get HIV from casual contact, kissing, using toilets seats. ect.

The fastest grwoing HIV population is straight women who get aids from straight men.

Cool, fun with statistics:

1) By Gender, 70% of new HIV infections each year occur among men.
2) By risk, men who have sex with men represent the largest proportion of new infections. Heterosexual sex makes up 1/3 of new cases (no distinction between heterosexual sex with heterosexuals vs. heterosexual sex with bisexuals)
3) Of the new infections in Women, 75% are from heterosexual sex (again, no distinction), 25% is from IUD.
4) Estimate of annual new infections in men: men who have sex with men - 70%, Heterosexual - 15%, Intr. Drug Use - 25%.

http://www.cdc.gov/nchstp/od/news/At-a-Glance.pdf

It might be true (I don't know???) that women having heterosexual sex have higher RATE of NEW infections, but where's the stats that indicate how many of these partners are bisexual and where they got it. Plus, considering they are such a small percentage of new cases, a small absolute increase will have a dramatic effect on rate.

You can prove all sorts of things with stats.
