Ship Restoration Volunteer Recruiting to Begin in Fall 2003
We have been touched by the number of individuals and community groups interested in assisting with ship restoration. Once senior staff members are onboard later this fall, we will begin recruiting additional volunteers to assist with ship cleaning & restoration, special events, and ship tours. You can request a volunteer application by replying to this email bulletin.

World-Class Museum Exhibit Highlighting San Diego's Naval History Planned Aboard
Our collection of military memorabilia continues to grow. San Diego's strong community ties to the United States Navy have provided us a number resources for Pacific Fleet artifacts. These items will be available for display in our San Diego Naval History exhibit. To date, we have collected a number of photographs, film reels, cruise books and other momentos from local sailors and aviators. If you are interested in donating any small artifacts to our museum's collection at this time, please contact our curator, George Cagle -- USSMidwayCurator@cox.net or call 619-589-1435.

Aircraft Restoration Continues
Restoration continues on our A-7B Corsair II, SNJ Texan and A-6E Intruder. Donation of materials from CES, W. W. Grainger and Snap-On Tools have kept our team of volunteers in parts and sand paper for the past few months. We want to thank Grace Iarrobino, widow of the late Captain John Iarrobino, USN (Ret.) -- a former skipper of USS Oriskany-- for her generous donation towards the Museum's efforts.
