Mental disorders is just a area I'm interested in, but I was curious about the homosexuality thing, I mean, people were not meant to be homosexual.. just as people are not meant to be dellusional and think they are some famous person from the past, It's not natural. Animals don't have mental disorders, just as animals aren't homosexual, So what are our gays? Are they mentally ill and must be treated, or just a new breed of humans

Interesting question Deamon...

Every gay male I've ever known has told me they knew they were gay from start. But... about half of the lesbians I've known have said that they are lesbians because of abusive situations in their childhood. the other half say that they were always interested in women. The Bi's I've known just like sex and think it's great that every person they meet could be a potential sexual partners.

So is it a defect? Well, yeah... from an evolutionary standpoint. but I would have thought that through natural selection it was weeded out. So, who the hell knows?

By the way, homosexuality has been found to take place among many mammal species. Female elphants have been seen diddling each other, rabbits, ducks, etc... Homo behaviour has been seen in many of the primate species as well...

Personally, I don't think it's my business what people do with each other if it's between consenting partners.

With us now having modern medicine natural selection is becoming more rare. We are now able to save many that would otherwise not survive according to most natural selection scenarios. With this comes good and bad.

I don't see why people are refering to homosexuality as an evolutionary thing. It has been around for thousands of years. Plus it repeats itself all through history. If it is to continue doing as it has in the past it will decrease in its numbers in the future but whos to say it has hit its peak yet. Homosexuality is also more widly accepted these days than it has ever been. Knowing this; it may not follow its regular course and it may keep continuing to grow. I do not believe it will ever go away.

I don't believe it is a defect. It is a choice. I believe that some people are more attracted to the same sex. I also believe that some people have characteristics that make them more susceptible to drug and alcohol addiction. Some convince themselves that they cannot overcome their addiction and just go with their emotions. Some decide that even though they will always desire their addiction, they choose to overcome it. I personally think that homosexuals will create more problems for themselves and their families in the long run than choosing to overcome their addiction. However, if a homosexual feels that they are happy and they have no religious conviction against what they are doing, it’s kind of a waste of my breath to convince them otherwise.

I don't understand why you consider homosexuality an "addiction." Is heterosexuality an addiction? It's not a big deal, but I think that's an interesting choice of words.

Since we're on the subject, and this is REALLY gross, a couple of years ago my dog Cookie wouldn't stop humping my other dog, Cuddles. Both are female. It was so bad, and so constant, I had to shut the drapes on the sliding glass door because every time I looked out Cookie was going at Cuddles. What's worse is the sound it made--it was like when you pinch your cheeks and pull at them real fast. AHHHHH!! I can hear the sounds in my head still. It was so disturbing.

I called my vet, but I think they thought it was a prank call. Then I called a vet from the town I grew up in. I hadn't talked to him in about 10 years. Not only was he surprised to hear from me, he was surprised at why I was calling. I think it embarassed him.

But he told me female cows sometimes hump each other (I grew up in a farm community and he's a vet for livestock). That kind of grossed me out too. But not as much as Cookie making sweet love to Cuddles.

It finally stopped, and I don't think she's touched the forbidden fruit since.

A great quote:

"In the final summation of human existence, while looking back with perfect knowledge upon all the silly fads of the ages, homosexuality will indeed rank among the most ridiculous and embarrassing for those who participated."

"Personally, I don't think it's my business what people do with each other if it's between consenting partners." --Eddy's Geist

On this point Eddy, I agree not only as it relates to affairs of the bedroom but in all other affairs as well. This is why I oppose government regulation and why I am a Republican.

I think they are suffering a mental defect, that's all. It has nothing to do with genetics (proven because they can't reproduce if they practice their obsession faithfully). We should have compassion for the sick by treating their ailment. Or at the very least, not encourage it!
