I guess it could be Mafia: City of Lost Heaven.
I just got this game the other day and haven't been out of the house except for work and necessities since. Which is pretty pathetic, but the nightclut scene can live without me for a couple of days.
Basically you're a gangster in the 30's. The graphics are better than Max Payne and the gameplay is roughly similar to GTA3. However the designers meant for you to be immersed in the era, so the cars actually drive crappily like crappy 30's cars, the guns are all correct to the era and the players mostly speak in period lingo.
I'm having a blast playing it, recommend other people check this gem out!
