View Full Version : Going to Vegas!!!!!
I think it was suggested by JB awhile back when I had some found money that I run off to Las Vegas with it.
Well low and behold, the group of misfits I run with wants to go the first week of December. The flight is booked...and I must say...$160 round trip from Hartford with one layover was a mighty appealing deal. (That is if the airlines doesn't go belly up before that)
The next task for my croonies and I is to book accomodations, this is where you guys (and gals) come in.
Now, I have been to Vegas one time a few years back...it was a short stay and I had to attend a wedding and I didn't stay on the main strip....and I had my ex wife with me...so needless to say it wasn't much fun and I really didnt see any of it.
But this is the new and improved Dave.....and I want to have me a good ole time....and I mean good.
I am not a rich man by any means and want to keep the hotel prices in the $75 a night range......so what I am looking for is suggestions...the more the better......please suggest places to stay, places to go........and even better......people to see:)

Dave, I go to vegas 3-4 times yearly and have only paid for one night in 20+ years, & that was when I had 3 rooms. This link will give you a way to price shop for regular room quotes. If you are going to be gambling, you definitely want to ask for casino rates. Most casinos will comp your room with 4 hrs play/day at an average bet of $10, but just qualifying for casino rates will cut the room rate by 50% on average. Just ask each place when you call what their casino rates are.

If you are interested & want to spend several hours preparing for a style of play in blackjack, I'll be happy to share some of knowledge you need to give yourself a shot at coming back winner. But you must keep in mind that even making the right play every hand, utilizing simple money management techniques, you still will have loosing trips. Never loose more than you can afford, always keeping in mind--it's entertainment.
:D
If you are only interested in gambling, you might want to stay downtown. The Golden Nuggent and Main Street are probably the best. The best blackjack is at the Horseshoe, but it is the darkest, smokiest casino there is.
If you are more in to the tourist stuff, stay on the strip. Mid-week you should be able to find a good room. My favorite hotel on the strip is the Mandalay Bay for the nightlife. But the Ventian and Bellagio are also very nice. Any of the new places are very nice, but some of the older hotels are showing their age.
Of course if you ask Jhansberger, he just goes where he can stay for free.
I'll be there this weekend, and I'm staying at Treasure Island.
Hey Dave! What time ya pickin' me up?? I don't give a shit where we stay. Back seat, even! heh
Rguess...I doubt I will gamble enough to get comp'd but I will check out that site..thanks alot!!
As far as blackjack goes...I stay away from that cause I get yelled at for playing the wrong cards...lol
Robb..I stayed at Circus Circus when I went...this time I am looking for some night life and the guys I am going with definately want to stay on the strip....we are looking at Aladin and the Mirage.....
And finally...Laurie, Laurie, Laurie.......I'll pick you up anytime, anywhere:D .......and to hell with Vegas....lets just do the backseat thing:smokin:
Does your car have a hot tub? ;)
It does now
Any other requests before we hit da road??
Nope! Two people and a hot tub are all ya need.
Well, okay. Bring wine. Lots of it! ;)
Unless you're thinking of a 3some.....LOL
Threesome souds great!!!!!
Someone has to drive;)
The other can drive......I'll RIDE! hehehehe ;)
I will go buy that Mustang GT I have had my eye on if you change your name to Sally
Ride Sally Ride

Acutally you can print it out, and as long as it is credit card sized you can have it at the table.
I am roulette kind of guy...not much thinking which means more drinking :D
What kind of nightlife can I expect.......type of clothes to bring...stuff like that
Guess we don't need those in the hot tub!!!
This is getting better every day:D
If you want nightlife with rented women RodJSM says that his favorite places are the Olympic Garden, Crazy Horse Too or Cheetahs. He also likes Lit’l Darlings even though the women are a little less appealing because you can bring your own alcohol. If you want to go to a club with loud music, dancing and attractive non-rented women The Beach is my favorite. It generally stays pretty lively until somewhere around 4:00am. Plus it has an oversized lifeguard chair out front that you can prop up your drunken friends in and take pictures while you wait for a cab.
Thanks Jhans!!!
Very valuable info there
What do you think Laurie??
The Rum Jungle at the Mandalay Bay is out of control. Check it out as well. You can usually get into the beach in any attire, but some nights the rum jungle requires at least dockers and leather shoes.
Generally people dress a little nicer on the Strip than downtown, but I usually just wear shorts/jeans and a polo shirt.
WARNING: REAL LIFE LESBIAN SEX STORY
Little story about The Beach. My friend and I were there once getting plastered at the bar. An attractive girl came up to me and my friend and asked if we were gay. My friend said, “fuck yeah” and proceeded to give me a kiss (remember we were really drunk). The girl then turned around and pulled another attractive girl off of the dance floor and grabbed her by the hips and placed her on the bar in front of us. She then lifted up her friends skirt and pulled off her panties and began to perform oral sex on her friend right in front of us for about thirty seconds. Her friend then reciprocated the favor. Thereafter, they tossed their panties over the bar and headed back to the dance floor. Me and my friend looked at each other and said something like “holy shit”. Unfortunately, about five minutes after that happened, my friend passed out and we carried him outside and propped him up in the oversized lifeguard chair and let everyone take pictures with him for a couple of minutes before he peed himself.

I’m kind of confused Laurie. What exactly are you game for? Were you talking about the strip clubs or the lesbian sex acts? :)

SSSSSSssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Woohoo!
We are heading to Vegas from the 12th to the 16th. We can't freakin' wait!!!!
Last year was so much fun, had to book another trip.......I made my reservations last night for 10/16 to 10/20..............it's going to be hard to top last year's trip........but you know I will try!
JB, too bad the OG doesn't have a hotel attached
psst...Dave...
Hit the Red Rooster on Friday or Saturday night. You will see things only seen on porn movie sets.
Making Note..............where abouts is that Freak?
Vegas is sooooo much fun!
Just go and stay anywhere.
I loved staying at New York, New York, but we spent so little time in our room, it didn't reall matter. I loved being there. The roller coaster was there and the game room and I loved their casino with the high ceilings and fake trees. They also had a huge variety of clubs and restaurants so you really never needed to leave there. Oh....and a pool too.
Anyway, it was a cool place to stay, but I still try to see as many new places as possible when I visit Las Vegas.
Stay Anywhere.......I was considering the Bunny Ranch, but I am not much of a farmer
don't set me up like that.. ..don't make me make a comment about plowing...

Harrah's is running a $49 deal if you book by Sept. 17 but it only goes until Sept. 30. :( Maybe you can call and ask to get it for December.
"Harrah's Las Vegas is offering a $49 per night midweek rate valid for select dates this month. This is Harrah's best rate this season -- book now to get this limited time offer!"
I have a room, at Ballys....first night free (cause they love me), Fri & Sat $125 a night and $70 on Sun night.....
One of my friends is bunking with me and another is paying for my flight cause I painted his whole house for him....so travel and accomodations are costing me $110..........leaves lots of money for hookers and escorts, I mean food and gambling.

Is tourism killing the environment?
Monday, September 15, 2003
DURBAN, South Africa (Reuters) -- A boom in world tourism is posing a huge threat to some of the planet's most sensitive ecosystems, according to a new study.
The study, by Conservation International (CI) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), said tourism rose by more than 100 percent between 1990 and 2000 in the world's "biodiversity hotspots," which include the tropical Andes and the Guinean forests of West Africa.
CI has identified 25 such areas, which contain 44 percent of all identified endemic plant species and 35 percent of all known endemic species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians.
The hotspots cover only 1.4 percent of the planet's land area and all been significantly altered by human activities.
"In some places the growth (in tourism) has been staggering," CI and UNEP said in a statement released Friday at the fifth World Parks Congress in the South African port city of Durban.
"Over the past decade, tourism has increased by more than 200 percent in both Laos and Cambodia, nearly 500 percent in South Africa, (and) over 300 percent in the countries of Brazil, Nicaragua and El Salvador," it said.
Costas Christ of CI, one of the report's authors, told Reuters tourist development in ecologically sensitive areas often severely damages its main attraction -- the environment.
Prior to its development as a tourist resort in the 1970s, only 12 families lived on the barrier island of Cancun.
-- Conservation International report
"Many of these developments are in arid countries and so the limited water supply comes under pressure ... and if development ultimately kills off the environment then tourists have no incentive to come," he said.
The report highlighted the Mexican resort of Cancun, where world trade talks are being held, as an example of unsustainable tourism which is impacting negatively on the environment.
"Prior to its development as a tourist resort in the 1970s, only 12 families lived on the barrier island of Cancun," it said.
Now, the resort has 2.6 million visitors per year, the local mangrove and inland forests have been cut down, and in the settlement that has grown nearby, 75 percent of the sewage of the population is untreated.
Tourism is often said to benefit the environment by creating jobs and other opportunities for poor rural communities who might otherwise exploit local natural resources for survival.

We (friends and family) are planning a group trip in Feb. Maybe the Bressler bunch can try again in Feb. It will help get over the let-down from the excitement of The Holidays.

Just got back Tuesday. Beware of the spreading corporate plot involving single deck blackjack which only pays 6-5 or even money on a blackjack, plus you can't go down/double except on a 10 or 11. Horrible rip-off version of the best game. :fbomb: The worst part is that so many idiots are playing it that now there are more of these tables than the regular bj tables. :fbomb: Danger Will Robinson Danger. :fbomb:

Or buy a card at the hotel gift shop and leave it on the table, most casinos dont care.

 What casino do you work for? ;)
Oh hell no, this breaks it down a lot finer, and therefore is a little bit harder to learn. There is another one for single deck, but that's been rendered useless since you wouldn't want to give up the extra percentage by forfeiting the almost 2% advantage you have to give up for the b/j payoff.
I am back......Rguess, you were right, the payouts at Paris suck! Robb, sorry, didn't see your liver anywhere....I looked high and low....

Hey, it wasn't just at Paris. All of the Park Place Entertainment properties (Bally's, Flamingo, Caesar's) are doing it. And I found it at several other non associated casinos, but the real kicker was at the Rio where they already have tables (packed full of friggin maroons playin) that were advertising EVEN MONEY payout on b/j SINGLE DECK. Now granted the average gambler ain't the sharpest stick :Poke: , but shit how friggin stupid do ya hafta be to not realize they have ya by the balls. :o Playing that chart I gave you will reduce the odds to where the house advantage is 0.16%, but going with a 6/5 payout it jumps the house advantage nine fold. :fbomb: What really pisses me off about all this is how fast this has taken off and that in the very near future virtually all of the tables will be this way. And these maroons just keep flockin to the excellent "SINGLE DECK" tables for their fleecing. But I'd best not go into this because I'll jus end up gettin all bent outta shape N stuff. :sure:

What clubs have most people visited in Vegas and what do you think of it?
If you are single and either attractive or a good enough bullshiter to make people think your attractive and or rich, the prettiest young things in town will probably be down at the Palms Ghost Bar or Rain Night Club. However, don’t be surprised if you have to wait in line for much longer than you want to. If you want to actually get inside a club in time to drink and dance prior to everyone leaving go across the street to the Rio and go to Club Rio or the Voodoo Lounge. Although I will warn you that Club Rio does fall off pretty fast in the later hours since it is so big it starts to seem dead when there are only like two hundred people there. Also I think the Voodoo Lounge closes at 2am. On the other hand for a non-casino associated club The Beach is pretty nice and it seems to hold up better in the late hours. I don’t know when it closes because I have always left by 5am or so and the doors were still open.
The wait at the Ghost and Rain bars is killer, I waited an hour in a very ling line with very little advancement....thats when we decided to go to the Olympic Gardens.....man did I spend a lot of money there.
Don't waste your money to get into Studio 54 or Coyote Ugly, waste of time...to tell you the truth, the best action that my friends and I have gotten has come from hte little side bars in the casinos.
I've just about made up my mind to move to Vegas and work in a casino somehow. I still have a few years until my son is out of school, so training or education is possible. I've never been there, so I don't know what's available. Any suggestions?

It used to be that you would see the same dealer faces and pit bosses at the same casinos year after year. Now virtually every casino in town is on a constant hiring spree for dealers. However, the casinos on the Strip are generally pickier than the ones downtown and the high roller strip casinos are the pickiest. If you want to get a blackjack job downtown you could get one the first day that you learned how to deal. However, I will warn you that most of the dealers that have been there for any length of time tend to think the job is pretty darn boring. Also they all seem to complain about their feet, back and or legs hurting from standing all the time. The only ones that I know that seem to like their job are the ones that become pit bosses. Finally, if you like to gamble don’t get a job in a casino. I have a relative that is a pit boss at Caesar’s Palace. He said the dealers that are gamblers tend to spiral out of control eventually because the temptation is always in front of you.
if you like to gamble don’t get a job in a casino.
The weather and the variety of people I would meet are the two things that are attracting me to Vegas. My body clock naturally goes to a midnight schedule if I'm not forced to function during the day like normal people, so I thought that might be a plus, too. I don't really care about being a dealer. Surely, there are other positions available?
