Wow.... I'm still amazed that Blizzard released this overblown piece of junk.
Beautiful game with semi promising graphics takes one of the best strategy software engines and turnns it into a "quest" driven soap opera. Too many cut scenes, too much dialogue, and really tiny battles that are far too easy to win.
May Starcraft 1 and2 and Warcraft 1 and 2 rest in peace.
Did Microsoft purchase this company recently?

Probably one of the most anticipated games ever. After a couple of these 'types' though (C&C, AoE, StarCraft, etc), they all seem the same.
You know they are making a Warcraft MMORPG. Not sure when it's expected to come out, but that will be a huge event.

This game is fun to me, and distinguishes itself from other RTS games by encouraging players to be constantly fighting, not building up for a rainy day. They do this by a) keeping gold mines low in gold, forcing scarcity and colonization b) putting NPC monsters around the map so your heroes (special units that earn XP) will be encouraged to roam with some buddies to earn XP and gain levels and c) instituting upkeep levels where the more units you have, the less gold you can produce (encouraging people to use units while building more, don't let them stand around sucking up the economy!)
One complaint I would have about it is that the Orcs are not monstrously evil like they were traditionally supposed to be. Instead, they are noble but savage warriors with bloodthirsty habits, but hearts of gold. They are basically Klingons.
What is a nice touch is that the heroes can learn different powers as they grow in level. We have one helluva good time playing this thing at work, and I like the storyline.

Did I say at work??! Heh heh...I meant "NOT at work". Actually we used to play after hours but it's been slowing down. I wish people played it more!

That Warcraft MMORPG looks a too cartoony for my tastes.
I am dreaming of FOOL (Fallout OnLine) but it's a distant dream.
One day...
