View Full Version : Episode 2: Attack of the Clones
First off how could nobody post a review for this?
Second off, this is my first post, yay.
Alright, now to the review. Episode 2. Was it good like A New Hope? No. Was it sucky like Ep. 1? Hell No. Episode 2 was a little above avg. for a movie. The ending is awesome. I absolutely loved it. I'll give you a one word spoiler. Yoda. That's all you need to know. The movie's basically a love story, Anakin and Padme. Lucas, should stick with the action genre, it was an ok story, but ima guy so i can't like love stories but i do like Natalie Portman. (When did she get so hot?)
Overall - Good Movie. Not as good as the originals but a good movie none the less.
Saw this movie this weekend. The "love connection" in the movie was rigid and was unbelievable. The story broke off into many different tangents. Could have actually turned this movie into two different ones, which may have been best to fully develope it. Jarjar is there basically just to ruin it for the older viewers. His parts were really not necessary at all. Is it just me or was someone else actually expecting to see a real war scene in this movie. It seemed to end before anything good really began. Did not like the actor that played Anican (sp?). He couldn't seem to get more than one facial expression down. He did a pretty decent job as an akward teen though his script was a bit coarse in places. It was definately better than Episode 1 but no where near the originals. Good enough to watch in the theaters but no reason to wait in long lines. Even with all the problems with the film it was an enjoyable experience. It just ended to soon for me.

Well, I liked the guy who played Anakin, hes was leaps and bounds better than the walking corpse Portman. My main problems were with the plot. Specifically the "power" given to JarJar. For a senator Amadala sure is stupid. I also miss puppet yoda. I understand that for the big scene, it had to be cgi, but all the close stuff could have been done with a puppet. CGI is way to shiny and percise for my liking. The only CGI characters I liked were the clone making people. The CGI added a grace that seemed realistic.
I liked the movie. I didn't think the interplay between Anakin and Padme was too good. It was pretty stiff but then again I ignored the love story and just tried to focus on the main plot. I mean, the love story is meaningless anyways. It’s just there to allow for the creation of Luke and Lea. This could have been accomplished in a much shorter time. Shit, from what I hear, if JB$ was cast as Anakin, he could have accomplished it with one bedroom scene in 30 seconds or less. :)
The rest of the story was a pretty darn good setup for Episode III and unlike Episode I, I'll be going back to watch Episode II in the theatre instead of waiting for the DVD. If the love story didn’t keep bogging the movie down I’d say I would have liked it better than both Episodes V and VI but of course, it didn’t even come close to Episode IV.
I thought the special effects were great. The love stuff sucked.
The best part of the movie I thought were the sound effects. The sounds of the engines were the coolest things I've heard in a long time. The way they sounded like pulses was just awesome.
I'd love to go screaming down the freeway with my car sounding like that. Especially with the doppler effect. That impressed me more than anything.

Did you notice the flying car Anakin stole? It looked like the yellow '32 Ford Deuce Coupe in American Graffitti! This theory is bolstered by the 50's style diner, where the waitresses roll around on wheels.
By the way, why is it alright for a Jedi to boost some innocent's flying car on a whim, but Qui Gon Jinn, in episode 1, risks the lives of a 7-year old, a princess, and an entire planet over a track bet, when he could have just stolen the part they needed?
I liked this movie. I enjoyed the way everyone in the audience cheered when Yoda walked in on the fight at the end.
I was not very interested during my second viewing though. They needed to edit out something I guess, because I found Spiderman better the second time. Maybe they should at least omit the love scene where Anakin's 3D model was jerkily riding on top of the cow-thing in the field, and then the two lovers "spill" laughing into each other's arms. :Z:
