View Full Version : Hunter's Point
Any one remember Hunter's Point? I think it was back in 1966 when the Midway was in drydock. We would go up to the Singlemans deck on the island and watch the Giants at Candlestick Park. We would look through those large binoculars and get a good view of the baseball game.
Also remember how large the ship screws were once the water was pumped out of the drydock and lots of crap on the hull. Funny, some crazy stuff one just can't forget.:)

WOW!! 3 dozen dead by may.Somebody is doing some shooting. That is too bad.
That old base looks like it was a great facility at one time.On the sattelite pic ,I can make out a few drydocks and such.Funny how the navy just up and leaves and then builds all the same stuff somewhere else. With all that goes on in that area now,I doubt they would be back. You dont live neasr there do you?

Well, they really havent built up a base but moving everything to Wash.state.I dont blame them for moving out of the bay area,as the main reason I had heard was it was the highest cost of living in the nation, and the military was paying some spendy baq costs.
Olongapo reopening would be a dream,I would be on a plane in a heartbeat.I dont think it will happen though. But money does talk fairly loud if it falls on the right ears.
So this is the major catch that was mentioned in that article.

Hunter's Point is deserted just like Alameda. I've never been to Hunter's Point before. I can tell you though that getting to the Point would be like Escape from New York. A white guy like myself would get friggin killed in no time flat going thought that area both night or during the day. That's the friggin roughest and most dangerous place in all the Bay Area bro. A number of years ago a Korean guy cut through that area. Yeah, talk about sticking a piece of chicken in a pirana infested pond. That guy was killed in no time. Black people hate Koreans anyways, but this incident happened right after that black girl was shot while shop lifting from a Korean market in Los Angeles. I've bs'ed with guys who grew up in Hunter's Point and there was nothing good about it. Even a street cleaner was yanked out of his rig and beat the fuck up. They then drove his street cleaner through an abandened store front. The cleaner sat there halfway in/out of the store front for a good month before a group of people went in and rescued it. Maybe they should do the next Lost, Survivor or Fear Factor there. Anyone white or Asian who makes it through there will deserve the friggin trophy and title hands down! Two major gangs occupy that area, Big Block and WestMob. I've not discussed with any known member of either of these gangs what the nucleus of their general philosophy in survival is but what I could tell you is it's most likely closer to the tune of "Your life is My inconvenience".

" Hunters Point has always been a shit hole as far back as I can remember which was around 1960 the first time I was in SFO ,after I got out of the Navy in 66 I stayed in the bay area ,got married there in 69 and my wife worked in San Fran. we lived down by the SFO airport so she commuted daily using the buss system she started out using a bus line that eventially ended up in Hunters Point about half way down she would transfer to another line , one day when she got up to make the xfer one of the BBMF onboard decided to grab all the women on the ass as they went passed him my wife saw what he was doing and got her purse ( I always told her that damn thing must have half a dozen bricks in it) ready and as she came up along side him she wound that thing up and smashed him in the head with it which caught him completely by supprise , any way this greaseball failed in his attempt ,when she got home and told me I promptly called the bus Co. and ask why they were allowing this to happen ,the guy gave me what I considered some pretty lame excuses , at that point I informed him that I was comming up and ride that damn bus myself and bring my brand new 357 with me , he got a little excited and eventially tells me that there was a different line my wife could use that didn't go to hunters point so we gave that a try it seemed to work ok-like I said at the begining that place is full of scum bags ,if we ever go to war with some one we ought to bomb:fbomb: that place our selves...."

Great story about your experience in this place! It's a bit more rough now compared to 69' though. If a woman did that now to a guy like that, they'd get stabbed, strangled and/or shot by the perp.
" HI Weps you would have to know my wife she is Mexican and pretty tough for a female she lived in the Ingleside area for quite a period of time which is up ocean ave passed city collage this area is not as rough as hunters point but white people travel in there after dark at there own peril even to this day if you are there after dark you hear gun shots almost every night -I took my wife to Japan in 1970 on vacation ,we were in the train station in tokyo and it was wall to wall people she proceeds to use the small samsonite suitcase as a battering ram to plow thru the croud it worked pretty well I just fell in behind her with the larger cases I was carrying using them like side boards and we plowed right thru to the guy with the food grills where he has two grills with a lot of dark green stuff frying I tell him Ecura(I know I'm going to hear from elder the welder on this spelling but thats the best I remember it.)which meant how much. the guy mumbles something and I said Hi(yes) and Nee (2) where upon he dishes up two big portions I stuck out some yen and he took what he needed . Wasn't bad both the taste and the price ,the Yen had been allowed to float agenst the dollar and at that time was about 255 yen to the dollar or 257 with travelers checks -christ what I wouldn't have given for a beer about then  "

Like plowing through the snow! That's funny, I can picture that. And for a chick in Japan to do it makes it that much better. The Japanese men must have really had their eyebrows raised on that evolution! Mexican... I've had a few Latina girlfriends, Rita from Mexico and Milagros from El Salvador. Your right, they are pretty tough but nice and affectionate like the way I like them. I know the area your talking about where your wife lived in Frisco. There used to be a strip mall called Stones Town sort of near there. Does that ring any bells?
"Actually Stones town is located a little north of Ingleside there are a couple of communities between S.T. and Ingle one of which is ST. Francis woods (Dianne Finstine) a Cal. Senitor lives there ,an easy drive but a pretty long walk ,we still own property down there so it helps us keep track when we go down to look things over.If you take Ocean Ave west going passed Plymouth and Granada ave , on the right hand side( N ) there is a real good chineese Rest. The real menu is on the walls so if you look around and see some of the locals eating something that looks good tell the waitress that you want some of that ,every thing thats on the walls are not reflected on the fold out menu .I can recall getting into a drag race up on 19th ave in Golden Gate Park just north of Stones Town the guy was riding a GPZ1100 and I was on my trusty YAM. V-MAX My nephew and I had just made a tour of the wine country and were comming up on the tunnel for the G.G. Bridge I look behind in my mirrors and see a white Bike hauling us down and I was doing about 80mph I start shutting the throttle down and this guy blows by like we were standing still so realising that he wasn't a cop I picked up the pace and caught him just as we were going into the tunnel almost every one in there went blind from the different light levels however I was ok thanks to my new photo yellow glasses ,my nephew said later all he could see of me in there was my tail light ,well needless to say I blew buy this upstart in the dark and by the time he exited the tunnel we were damn near to the toll plaza I rolled up paid for two and away we went , the guy on the GPZ was tearing the road up trying to catch us , finally we got held up in traffic and he caught up with me we both walked the bikes spliting lanes up between the lead cars ,I heard him cracking the throttle on the rt side of the car to my Right keeping his engine cleared out so of course I started doing the same thing ,when the light turned green we both came out- me I'm trying to launch without spinning the rear tire :smokin: and knowing his bike he was probably trying to keep the front end on the Gnd.We ran them out thru the first three gears and shut down due to another stop light I never saw anything of him , could hear him but no show we did another run and had about the same result he fell way behind according to my nephew . the third time I reved it up and cranked it out thru 1st gear and shut down ,I guess he thought he had won and just kept hauling ass he must have went thru Stones Town at least 80 or 90 mph kind of scarry they have Ped. cross walks in that area.:o--------I think this is the longest post I've had----:Z:
