Groceries isnt that much more different in price here, it's tiles, tubs and tires, the big stuff thats just crazy expensive, and there's so little to choose from here. :(
From Walmart I'm getting a crate of lotion for the year, soap, that kinda thing. I like Walmart because it has almost everything on the list, it's open all night, so when I reach at fridaynight around 12 I can get straight to business.

No need to ask that question, even I know this answer, cause you can get basically anything for real cheap!

So DMS, your as exited about the trip to Walmart as I am going to the Junkyard with my parts-to-pull list. This is also the caliber of excitement we used to possess when waiting for liberty call to be announced during the morning we pulled in or anchored off the beach in Thailand or P.I. (depending on which port). Good ol Thailand, I miss those speed boad liberty launches. And P.I. - that cattle car never seemed so enjoyable....counting the paso's and condoms the entire way to the main gate my friend. The Smutman will relate to all this!

Side note: Never get a blow-job by a chick with bad teeth during the speed boat liberty recovery back to the boat in Thailand, Kenney almost lost his when the speedboat smacked a high wake from one going in the opposit direction, the chick's jaw slammed into the seat he was sitting on and she bit down on him big time....and the six stitches he received on the top and bottom of his wang after getting back to the ship reminded him of this for a long long time.

Their ammo's cheap there.

Bucko
04-13-06, 11:23 AM
I don't think they do but I'll look next time I go. 100 box of 12ga is only $14.99 which is pretty cheap. They sell all the supplies at the gun club here but they try and get as many people to buy so they can spread the hazardous materials charges evenly. I'd bet you can't buy it at wallymart but I'll check. I have to go Sat for more ammo anyway.

Bucko
04-14-06, 04:34 PM
I hate to be the barer of bad news bucko but it looks like your going to be forced to shop elsewhere for ammo, that is if you were planning on purchasing it from WalMart. Next thing you know you won't be able to purchase automotive chemicals there either like cans of carb cleaner. Carb Cleaner works great on household ant problems, sure the vapors alone will set off your indoor smoke detector, but hey, that aught to tell you something on how effective it works on ants.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2006/04/14/financial/f111732D04.DTL

I think they'll still carry ammo but not the guns themselves. At least that's the impression I get from the article. They'll stock other sporting items (i.e ammo)

That doesn't surprise me though. Even if they do Sportmart does. They're just as cheap but farther to get to.

Oh yeah, your pretty correct Bucko on that one. I did see tons and tons of Spanish stuff in Oxnard when I was stranded over there back New Year's Eve "January 31, 1993". Back then the only thing between the Oxnard Exit on 101 and that huge mountain right before you start approaching L.A. was nothing but farm land. About three years or so ago, I drove 101 to L.A. for the first time in nearly 10 years and I couldn't believe all the businesses lining 101 at the same location now. I don't even recognize much of it anymore.

Weps, that was probably Camarillo. There's still a lot of farmand here in Oxnard. You'd have to go Hwy 1 to see it though.

But you're right...million dollar homes and businesses are getting pretty thick around here. Unless you got off at around Rice Ave. or Victoria Blvd. there's a lot of outlet malls around the 101.

Did the mountain have a radar on top of it? You'd definately know since it's about 150' in diameter. Wait..you must have been going through the Conejo Grade. That's closer to Camarillo on the 101.

Glad to hear somebody has something positive to say about Oxnard. We get bashed pretty bad by the folks in Camarillo, Ventura and Simi.

BTW..how did you get stranded? Did you have to go to Port Hueneme?

So what ever happened to Blue Chip stamps? And why doesn't Wal:star:Mart offer them?

Bucko
04-26-06, 03:00 PM
It was on Ketch Street, that huge apartment complex. But Oxnard is pretty nice really. The main road going in from 101 used to be pretty run down though. This chick living there also told me that they did a scene from Back to the Future III there. The part where the car gets run over by the train. Also, Oxnard has the port where my BMW intered into the United States from Germany.

Wow..small world. I live on Fisher Drive. Ketch is at the end of Fisher.

Yep..I watched them film that scene from BTTF III. They did a Clint Eastwood movie there too where he had the chimp with him (can't recall the title) They were filming "24" here at the base last week and they've filmed a lot of JAG out here (Point Mugu) Never watched either show though. *LOL*

And yes sir..I see tons of BMW's coming in from Port Hueneme. Wish I still had mine but my daughter rolled it a few years back.

The road from 101 to Oxnard is now really nice (if you're talking you got off at Victoria) They finally got it fixed up. You definately wouldn't recognize the place now. Across from Victoria they have extended the harbor and now there's million dollar homes there with private docks.

Oh...and btw..they DO still sell ammo at Wall Mart. Cheap too.

Kids were dying of glue poisoning. Parents would bring back 10 million stamps and make their kids glue them into the books. 4000 books would get you a set of steak knives or a towel.

*LOL*...I wish. I have no say so in how the living room is decorated. If it was me I'd have models, flags, RC planes, helicopters, telescopes and gun crap all over the place.

Those are some ceramic pieces of fodder that have some kind of significant meaning to my wife. What, I don't know, but I ain't gonna argue about it with her. Armed or not.

Wal-Mart announced that they will soon be offering customers a new discount item... Wal-Mart's own brand of wine.

The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with E &J Gallo Winery of California, to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-5 range. Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but "there is a market for cheap wine", said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing. She added, "But the right name is important."

Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart brand.

The top surveyed names in order of popularity are:

10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Champioship Riesling
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. Grape Expectations

And the number 1 name for Wal-Mart Wine:

1. Nasti Spumante
