I saw "The Messenger", and heartily enjoyed it to the lees. I might think of a complaint or two at gunpoint, but I was won over by it nonetheless.

Roger Ebert spoke to me through my tv, and told me that the Joan of Arc film by Dreyer was the one to see. He hated "The Messenger", while his partner loved it. People seem to either treasure it or despise it, with most of the dissin' aimed at Milla Jovovich (who I thought did great, although I can see where some might be embarassed by her deranged demeanor).

She just seemed to be great at leading a charge, as this loony, driven, valkyrie-woman screaming like a banshee on the battlefield. Even I wanted to jump out and fight! Her screeching cries and heedless conviction just drove me into a blood frenzy. I ran out to the lobby, and knocked somebody's popcorn into the air. Well, I didn't go quite that far.

Well, did you hate it? Loathe it? Or like it? What IS your favorite version of this story. I'm torn between this one and the made-for-tv version with LeeLee Sobieski. They're the only two I've seen.
