View Full Version : Why All This Cutsie Repertoire?

When serious subjects arise, perhaps one or two replies make sense. But it isn't too long before responses degenerate, which is what discourages me about participating. I'm 73 years old and I can't follow some of your hip thought patterns. For instance, on the Condi thread I posted, JB responds, "booyah.."

Now, somebody seems to know what 'booyah" means, because it starts a whole chain of inanities: Glockmail "Oh, God. I can't breathe;" then RicardoHead (with that tongue hanging out) adds, "she doesn't have any staining on those undergarments."

Do you hip characters think you're exercising freedom of speech by talking about our Secretary of State's underpants? Why I'm so upset about this is that I expected someone to understand what's happening and help fight these eggheads, media moguls and other lefties who believe they can float above the consequences they bring down on our freedoms by virtue of their wealth.

But just as I'm often in the dark about the cute little jibes you chatter in, I'm beginning to think that, thanks to the dimunition of educational backgrounds between our generations, you can't follow my thought patterns.

I'd like to believe that some of my experience is worth posting. But then, anything I bring up gets drowned in a sea of inside jokes.

You youngsters don't have the slightest idea of what's driving cultural change, do you? (answer: post-modernistic control of today's political discourse.)

Here's a test--If you think you can still think, try and follow this:

First, there's a link about controlling the discourse from Clinton's labor secretary, Robert B. Reich, about the way a debate is framed: http://www.getamericaworking.org/other_surplus.htm I got this from the keywords "sets the boundaries" [of political] discourse.

WHERE THE HELL DO YOU CUTSIE KIDS (who respond to threads by posting stuff that might be seen above urinals) THINK POLITICAL CORRECTNESS COMES FROM? It comes from the linguistics and social science departments of left wing universities. I know, I recently (2002) got my MA in neuropsychology from a graduate school in San Francisco full of ultra-leftists. And guess what PC's doing to your freedom of speech! I'm seeng that not exercising it has reduced your vocabularies to "trendiod" chatter where there might have been thoughtful discourse.

For instance, the left now makes all conservatives insist they are not "questioning anyone's patriotism." Oh heaven f***ng forbid we should question John Kerry's, Ted Kennedy's, Chuck shumer's; Harry Ried's; Barbara Boxer's; D**K Durban's patriotisms!

Well guess what? I maintain that if I have any freedom of speech left, I can insist that these jerks are totally unpatriotic. Kerry gets up and says our fighting men break into Iraq homes and terrorize little children. I say that gives aid and comfort to the enemy. Then some Democrat says that I can't question Kerry's freedom of speech. Don't I have the freedom of speech to question Kerry's, Kennedy's, Shumer's, Ried's, Boxer's, and D**K Durban's trying the damnedest to have us lose the war on terror. No, I really don't question their patriotisms--what's to question? They don't have any. They'd sell this country to the United Nations and World Court in a blink!

25 years ago, I was in a debate with a leftist and mentioned that Democrat Administrations got us in all wars in the 20th centuary: WWs I & II, Korean, and Vietnam--and the last 2 they left for Republicans to clean up.

Well, he absolutely blew up at me and shouted, "YOU CAN'T SAY THAT! THAT'S NOT FAIR! ANYONE WHO SAYS THAT IS NOT WORTH EVEN TALKING TO!" There we go: My freedom of speech doesn't count. Democrats either make the rules or rewrite the rules by temper tantrum (maybe I'm having one now--but it's about time). When are we Republicans going to realize what's happening to our freedoms of expression, AND our use of language. We conservatives are being bullied out of our rights by sanctimony and tantrum.

I really need to set the record straight here: Weps wrote about the lack of staining on Condi's undergarments.

I simply wrote of my dreams of her wearing a skimpy lacey black G-string.

I don't know, Merch. When in doubt, try www.urbandictionary.com (http://www.urbandictionary.com/) which will also give you the definition of the word werd (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=werd). U down (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=down) wid dat, dawg (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=dawg)?

BTW, on a serious note, Merch, I think it's clear conversations degenerate here due to our desire to laugh at and have fun with one another. If however in general debate someone gives you shit about "questioning their patriotism" just don't let the diversion take hold and keep hammering them about whatever it is you are hammering about. Your freedom of speech counts as much as anyone's, but if you let them shut you up by their detracting from your point then you have forfeited it, IMHO (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=imho).

It is true that usual dialogue between newer generations becomes different as older words become obsolete or take on newer, quite possibly entirely different, meanings. But with the internet its just a matter of a stroke of different keys coupled with man's natural need to just be lazy and half-assed about it. Hell its actually snowballed up to different proportions with the internet and AOL'ers.

example: OMG u r lik t3h aw3sum!!1! i wud l3ik so luff ya fer d4t y0!!!!1
and yes these fucking teenagers really DO write shit like that. and its only going to get worse. most of us on here have lived through a lot of the internet years, when it was developing such an affront to humanity, so we've actually experienced it not as anything serious but as something that is so incredibly stupid that we only say things like that to showcase the stupidity of the internet and we get a slight sensation of amusement from it. or they're just saying it to increase their post count :nolike:.

But all of that is the might and majesty of the world's fool: The internet.

And so came the Geeks and the Carcenigens and all manner of other. And they saw that there was. And everyone who would, did. And they left behind that which was boring and unmanageable, though not like the other one.

Then Duphius told Cleavius to spread forth across the other way from whince they had not traveled. Cleavius took hold of the question and pondered it into the dust from where it had arisen.

And the people slept and had horrid visions of their feet. And no one knew the name of the guy someone hadn't met, so they were afraid.

Soon, they all fell off the edge of the Earth.

I don't know how it could be any plainer than that.

I feel your pain, man. The good thing about forumns is we old geezers can interact with the young bucks on an even field. Just don't tell them how old you are. We don't just know the history because we lived it.

BTW (by the way) I couldn't beathe earlier because I was laughing so hard. JB's phtoshop majic was brilliant.

That's pretty much the way it is with like minded people. When conservatives agree, the only thing left to discuss is the humor in it all.

Lefties can't survive in this atmosphere. They just don't have the intellectual honesty or dexterity.

You're joking, right?

I have yet to see him proven wrong. Lefties prefer to change the subject (or start hurling insults and slander) than to defend their points.

Not one once of one. Pick any topic and start a thread with your leftie point of view, and we'll see if you can defend your position without going nutso on me.;)
