We threaten to put up a wall and Mexico goes nuts, they illegally cross, take jobs, recieve tax funded benefits(while not paying taxes) and we're supposed to be okay with it!?!?!?!?!?!?

The Mexican government, angered by a U.S. proposal to extend a wall along the border to keep out migrants, has struck back with radio ads urging Mexican workers to denounce rights violations in the United States. Facing a growing tide of anti-immigrant sentiment north of the border, the Mexican government is also hiring an American public relations firm to improve its image.

Bingo Shotty. So often I read or hear opposition to illegal immigration as opposition to immigration in its enitrety. Virtually no one opposes legal immigration.

On the other hand, from experience I don't radically object to illegal immigration either except to the extent that (1) it is assumed to be a right and (2) the ability to illegally immigrate is being radically abused by too many.

Firstly, it is no right, and secondly I heard there is like 12 million illegals here, and the number is going up by a million or more a year. Sorry but that is extreme. Presumably they are mostly here in the southwest, but in reality how much menial work is there to do? It's not like we need 12 million people out there picking strawberries and all that crap, so what are these folks doing here?

Then you have Presidente Fox saying the illegals should claim worker injuries against their American employers ........ now there is a real threat. I in fact want them too, because all you need is a few well-publicized bullshit injury court-awards and you will totally discourage hiring them.

Lastly, I mentioned above having no problem with illegals. I mean that literally. While being raised the canyon behind our house was an illegal alien highway to the north, and over the years I met probably 1000 illegals who needed water or something. Not once were they impolite, threatening, or anything. They were in fact very decent and just looking to make a buck, but that doesn't change the fact that we have the right to control the border as we see fit.

our territory
Just that quote alone was going to get us in trouble. They have been pissed at us since the Alamo. The problem is we allowed most of our good businesses and factories to move to Mexico in the first place and we've allowed for years for them the Mexicans and any other South Americans access to our country with little or no real hassles. Now that the pressure is on in our government to so-call fix this mess, we are in a pinch. How can you have an effective wall when we have NAFTA? All you people who live in the southern states know exactly what I'm talking about. I've gotten my hide questioned many a times going up I-5 just south of LA at 2 or 3 in the morning heading up to SF by the freaking border patrol. Look harasses the ones who need it, I didn't fit a profile, and they were just bored. My point is we as a nation want a lot of stuff, yet our own people have become over educated and want a lot for nothing. These migrants will work hard and get a better wage than in Mexico, yet we have no say on control methods because they have such a monopoly here now.
Another thing is this, if these people aren't doing anything in question this stupid wall shouldn't be a issue and it won't effect them.

Finally a politician with a constructive suggestion and everyone gives him shit ...

GOP candidate's call for labor camp rebuked (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060623/ap_on_el_gu/forced_labor_camp_1)A Republican gubernatorial candidate's call for creation of a forced labor camp for illegal immigrants drew rebukes Friday from two GOP lawmakers, who labeled it a low point in the immigration debate.

Don Goldwater, nephew of the late Sen. Barry Goldwater, caused an international stir this week when EFE, a Mexican news service, quoted him as saying he wanted to hold undocumented immigrants in camps to use them "as labor in the construction of a wall and to clean the areas of the Arizona desert that they're polluting."

But two Republicans, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Rep. Jim Kolbe, called Goldwater's comments "deeply offensive" and asked state Republicans to reject his candidacy in the Sept. 12 primary.

"That Mr. Goldwater is either unaware of or indifferent to the loaded symbolism, injustice and un-Americanism of his 'plan' to address the many serious issues caused by illegal immigration reveals his flaws as a candidate and a stunning lack of respect for the basic values of a generous and decent society," McCain said in a statement.

"Build us that wall — now!" Goldwater said, referring to a proposal to add 700 miles of fences along the U.S.-Mexico border. He promised then that if elected, he would put illegal immigrants in a tent city on the border and use their labor to build the wall.Goldwater rawks.

I'd vote for Goldwater. I'd vote for anyone and everyone McCain says to not vote for, because McCain is the biggest tool in the Senate.
