Isn't that special. I read the trailer and at first I didn't know it was a gay thriller of 2 guys and sheep and stuff.
A raw, powerful story of two young men, a Wyoming ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy, who meet in the summer of 1963 sheepherding in the harsh, high grasslands of contemporary Wyoming and form an unorthodox yet life-long bond--by turns ecstatic, bitter and conflicted.
The all of the sudden it comes out these 2 were sinking the salami in the mountains while rounding up those sheep.

Tune to NPR and you'll find out how wonderful this movie is. All the liberal movie reviews are four stars, no bet. Who says Hollywood has an agenda?

Anyone know what the sales figgers are for this movie? Will it make money, or is it a pet project of the gay lobby?

It's one of the gay lobby's 'pork projects'. :hehe:

I heard on the news tonite that this blockbuster has grossed an incredible $4 million already. It was disclosed right after some apologist stated this film captures the hearts of America. $4M = maybe 400,000 viewers. There are more queers than that in a gay pride parade in Dogbreath, Nebraska. Hearts & minds my ass.

Ok, about their "record" sales - note one thing. It was a record for opening but where they were 'selectivly' showing this movie was: LA, San Fransisco and New York. HELLO! Let's see when it is released to the "blue states."

Utah Theater Cancels 'Brokeback Mountain' (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060108/ap_on_en_mo/brokeback_canceled)A movie theater owned by Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller abruptly changed its screening plans and decided not to show the film "Brokeback Mountain." The film, an R-rated Western gay romance story, was supposed to open Friday at the Megaplex at Jordan Commons in Sandy, a suburb of Salt Lake City. Instead it was pulled from the schedule.

A message posted at the ticket window read: "There has been a change in booking and we will not be showing 'Brokeback Mountain.' We apologize for any inconvenience."

The movie's distributor, Focus Features, said that hours before opening, the theater management "reneged on their licensing agreement," and refused to open the film.

Gayle Ruzicka, president of the conservative Utah Eagle Forum, said not showing the film set an example for the people of Utah.

Mike Thompson, executive director of the gay rights advocacy group Equality Utah, called it disappointing.

"It's just a shame that such a beautiful and award-winning film with so much buzz about it is not being made available to a broad Utah audience because of personal bias," he said.

I think the title is just a play on the words "brokeback mountin'", a game they like to play with each other for the sheep thrills and shear pleasure of it. :p

Utah Theater Cancels 'Brokeback Mountain
That is funny, maybe a little too close to home, or it could have caused a spark with the Mormans and the "bigamy" thing :o
I did read this on yahoo this morning, yeah just what we need in the US!

Gay teen movie just the 'Thing' for US release
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Indie distributor Picture This Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to the gay-themed Canadian comedic drama "Whole New Thing." The film will have a limited release in theaters in the fall.
The story centers on a 13-year-old boy (Aaron Webber) who, after years of home teaching by hippie parents, is sent to a local school. The precocious youth soon develops a crush on his promiscuous gay English teacher (Daniel MacIvor), leading to various complications for them and the student's family.
The project marks the second feature from director Amnon Buchbinder ("The Fishing Trip"), who co-wrote the script with MacIvor.

Thanks. Feel free to do a little editing of your own on that one. I thought about changing some of the text, but was pressed for time when I did it.
