Gary Glitter may face death penalty
From: Press Association By Martha Linden in London
November 22, 2005

The revelations come after two girls, aged 12 and 18 years, told the police they had sex with the former singer - real name Paul Francis Gadd - at his rented home in the southern resort of Vung Tau in Vietnam.
There were conflicting reports that the second girl had not yet turned 18.

Under Vietnamese law sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old, regardless of whether there is consent, is considered rape and carries a maximum penalty of death before a firing squad.

However sexual contact with a minor carries varying degrees of penalties, with the maximum being a 12-year prison sentence.

The 61-year-old former singer was arrested on Saturday at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City as he tried to flee the country.

He left his rented home in Vung Tau a week ago amid allegations about his relationships with two teenage girls.
Glitter has been taken back to Vung Tau for further investigation by the police.

He has not been charged with any crime but remains in custody at a jail outside the coastal city, police said.

Vung Tau police said they were continuing to investigate the case and will be questioning him further.

The case has been highly publicised in the state-controlled media, which had reported Glitter was seen in Vung Tau with several teenage girls, whom he invited to his home since moving to the area in March.

Yeah, I was sure it was going to be boys too, dirty old prick. I just thought he was a wanker, not a paedophile too....although I seem to recall something else about him and child porn a few years ago. He didn't get busted at the same time Pete Townsend was doing his, ahem......research, did he? Maybe that's why he's living in Vietnam. I hope he dies from terminal galloping nob rot. :idiot:

.......Glitter was sentenced to four months in jail in Britain, but served only two, after admitting downloading more than 4,000 images of children, some as young as two, on his laptop computer. The pictures showed boys and girls being sexually abused, tortured, bound, gagged and blindfolded.

VUNG TAU, Vietnam - A Vietnamese court Friday sentenced former rocker Gary Glitter to three years in prison for obscene acts with two young Vietnamese girls, and a melee erupted in the courtroom when Glitter shouted “I’m innocent” after the verdict.

Reporters and onlookers, allowed into the courthouse in southern Ba Ria-Vung province to hear the verdict following the closed two-day trial, pressed toward Glitter in a scene of pandemonium as police fended them off and escorted him out of the building.

“I haven’t done anything. I’m innocent. It’s a conspiracy,” Glitter shouted.

VUNG TAU, Vietnam - A Vietnamese court Friday sentenced former rocker Gary Glitter to three years in prison...

That's gonna leave a mark.

I'd put him in deadpool, but the odds would be too low.
