Most of the week the weather has been pretty good, but cold. Today, I get a look at the famous Beijing polution. 36 degrees and "smoke" according to weather.com (http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/local/CHXX0008?x=0&lswe=Beijing&lswa=WeatherLocalUndeclared&y=0). This is looking out my hotel room. A good dust storm from the north would make this perfect.
The other picture, is a Hutong right below my hotel room... not the one with the pizza. :p

I'm surprised this site is accessible from China. JB you ought to see if you can find some relatively fluent english-speaking Chinese over there who wanna play.
It would be cool.

I was thinking the same thing today. This site is pretty decadent, according to Chinese/Yahoo!/Google/Microsoft censors. Do you have a magic key that unlocks the cyber-nazis?
heh that roof with all the bricks on it looks kinda like my roof right now.
nice weather for sex in the hotel room.
where's Erica?

Actually, the hotel is great. I'd say right in between 4 & 5 star and only a couple blocks from Forbidden City and whole bunch of other stuff. There's not a heck of a lot of places in Beijing where you're not going to be within a block or two of a hutong, or something worse.
I guess with 50 trillion people it would be normal to see the sites like those pictures. When I was in Mombasa, Kenya it was much like that, only a few places off the beaten path were really nice and they had the money and security to keep the poor folks away. Real nice hotels and resorts in the middle of a shit hole was quite common.
So JB are you on holiday or business?

Prime Hotel Beijing, Club level.

As far as the view goes, I guess I will just have to find some small comfort in the dozen or so roughly five 5 foot tall, 90+ pound, immaculately groomed Chinese girls I see every time I make my way to the lobby.

Can you get some pictures of them for us and just forget the tourist and historical stuff. It's a matter of priorities.

So JB, since it's Thanksgiving over in China right now are you gonna give thanks to the State and to Chairman Mao for your bowl of cabbage? :Poke:
