Ladies and Gentlemen,
Over the comeing days and weeks it is a near certainty that you will receive a solicitation for a charitable contribution to assist in Hurrican Katrina relief efforts. I have taken the time to give you all another option.
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society This fine organization has a fund set up just to assist our Active Duty brothers and sisters all along the Gulf Coast. News reports call damage to military bases in the region, *Extensive, severe...* or almost any other adjective you can think of. Friends, somewhere along the coast, a young sailor or marine is suffering just as surely as the civilian population. Navy/Marine's always take care of our own, when the horn sounds. The Horn is sounding and will not be silenced for awhile. You can make a TAX Deductable donation here:
N&MCRS National Head Quarters
875 North Randolph Street
Suite 225
Arlington, Virginia 22203
Mark your Checks "Hurricane Katrina Account"
By marking your check in this manner, 100% of your donation goes directly to relief. If you send in a check without being marked for Katrina, NMCRS can stick the funds in their general account.A worthy endevor to be sure, but the point of this plea is for money that targets our Brothers and sisters on the Gulf Coast from New Orleans (Naval Reserve Command) to Pensacola, Florida to the east. (NAS Pensacola, Whiting Field. NATTC Corry Station). In Fact the SeaBee base at Gulf Port reports 90% of it's base housing is flooded. No percentage of destroyed homes reported. The bases medical facilites have suffered moderate to extensive damage.
God Bless and Protect our fellow sailors and marines on the Gulf Coast. :worthy:
