I've been pestering the Ikonboard Message Board support forum, ever since the 'final' version of their software came out, regarding a converter for this message board. They had previously promised a converter within a couple weeks of the final release. It's been about a month and a half now...

Finally received some sort of answer:

Hey guys,

The convertor is pretty much finsihed except for a few things to fix up here and there. It will be release with 3.0.2 which is do out in no more then two weeks.

Also, For those waiting for the the vB convertor. I talked with David (the one programming the vB convertor) a bit yesterday and he has finished it up for the most part too. Expect it around the same time as the UBB one.

Anyhow, the board is installed and I've customized the design, we're just waiting for that converter before we switch over, and whatever time it takes to do the actual conversion. If you want to look at the test board, with its 'final look' it's here:

http://bushwhacked.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi

All members and posts made will be 'flushed' out BEFORE the conversion, so I wouldn't make any posts there that you want to remain permanently. However, the Photoshop folks can use it to upload images if they like.

Oh... and the main site will probably get a redesign at the same time, similar to what the new Forum looks like. A preview:

It looks pretty but so did your mom after a few beers. That’s why I’m withholding judgment until after I put the new board through its paces. http://bushwhacked.net/ubb/smile.gif

One of the things I like most is finally having a view count, so you can see how many folks have actually read a post. http://bushwhacked.net/ubb/wink.gif Pleases the hell out of the micromanager in me.

IB Rocks. I've been selling JB$ on it for a long time now. Glad to see he's finally coming to his senses. http://bushwhacked.net/ubb/smile.gif

JB$ are you using a DMB or MySQL database? I'd definitely go mySQL if I were you. Very noticable speed difference.

Actually Joel, I was planning on using iB before I even knew about you or Kingstalk. I've been lurking the iB support board for almost a year now. I've had some kind of test board for probably six months.

They promised a converter from the very beginning, otherwise we'd be using vBulletin right now. I don't mind spending the money for vBulletin, but iB is a better product in my view.

It's all about the converter, or this business would be long over. I don't like to lose anything (like you've done how many times now?) - I'm an internet pack-rat.

I'll use DMB until the conversion issues are over with. Then I'll consider mySQL. Either way though, it's infinitely faster than the current board.

On Jan. 15, Woody at iB promised a converter in no more than two weeks. Today's date: January 25. How many people think it'll happen by Jan. 29?

Only if they live up to their promises.... I don't get psyched about it anymore, it's been put off too many times.

When dealing with IB, it is best to not count your chicken even after the eggs have hatched.

You really trust some guy named "Woody?"

Cuda, I was thinking the exact same thing.

If you can't trust a Woody, who can you trust?

See what I mean, where there's a Woody, troubles just around the corner.

This has the potential of getting ugly. I'd better head back to Beaver.

THOSE F*U*C*K*E*R*S DID IT AGAIN!!!

A nice 360. From "pretty much finished" and "due out in no more than two weeks" to "planned but not yet in development".

Hi,
LsH started a topic already on this and it became a mess.
So I have started this one, and it will be read-only.

The following convertors are being worked on:

VBulletin 2
UBB 6.0

Both of these are close to release.

The following convertors are planned but not yet in development:

UBB 5.0
YABB
VBulletin 1
YABB PHP

If the convertor you require is not listed there, then please PM me with the following information:

Name of Software
Official Website of the Software
Language its written in (Perl/PHP)
Database system it uses.
Number of posts you have
Number of members you have
Whether you would be willing to let us have access to the board data.

Name your PM as follows:
Convertor: Name of board

As this will allow me to easily see whats being requested, and from there get it worked on

Thanks!

Stop complaining and just re-type the threads. It'll probably be faster than waiting for these clowns.

Or just wipe the slate clean and say screw it, leave this one up for reference but send all posts to the new board.

Wow!! JB's kinda sexy when he curses. http://bushwhacked.net/ubb/wink.gif

Have you told them that Laurie is becoming impatient? Have you mentioned the fact that we are all sick and tired of refreshing? Have you told them that some of us...*ahem* have become excited by the fact that, if and when this converter ever gets going, we can post our own pics?

Tell those GDF fancy boys we want this new converter SET UP NOW OR ELSE!

If you can get the details on the technologies involved, maybe we can make a stab at conversion ourselves.

I like the way jhans thinks. Maybe all the Sacramento people should get together and have a big conversion party and re-type everything.

lucie

Oh sure. As usual, the Sacramento clique gets together and has a party, while the Midwesterners are forced to drink alone, brooding and polishing our guns as we stare out at the January snowstorm.....

Midwesterner's are known to be party animals. I don't feel left out in the least. http://bushwhacked.net/ubb/wink.gif

I lived in the mountains of Southern California above the 5,000 foot level for most of my first 18 years of life. During the winter we would have snow on the ground for about 30 to 40 days total. Yet, I could head twenty minutes down the mountain and experience a 70 degree day. The fact that I could escape the cold helped to keep me sane. If I was living in the Midwest and couldn't escape the cold so easily I would probably party alot too, even if it was just me, Jack Daniels and my twelve gauge (pressed tightly against my head of course). http://bushwhacked.net/ubb/wink.gif

Well, I've got two bottles of wine, a stack of videos, and a vacation day tomorrow. Guess I won't need that warm gun after all.

Hey Laurie - how's it look up your way? I'll be needing to get out of downtown soon - things are looking pretty slow out my window here.

Laurie

Things are looking damn good, actually, Lucie. I don't, however see any mountains. http://bushwhacked.net/ubb/wink.gif

OY! Still no converter? sheesh. Looks like all the emphasis is going to the new PHP version of IB.
